OKW at 7 months?

What are the chances of getting a couple of OKW 2BR Thanksgiving week at the 7 month window?

Chances are probably pretty good at 7 months. Chances of getting it between 7 months and your travel date (maybe spending time on the wait list) are excellent.

Its always a good idea to get a geservation at your home resort, just in case you can't get OKW.

Thanks. Funny thing is, I don't have a home resort yet. We have just put down a deposit and we're waiting for the paperwork. When we finish, Beach Club Villas will be our home resort and that is where we plan on staying most. But since we get 2002 points we decided to invite all the family members (about 20) to Disney for Thanksgiving! We'll still have to borrow most of our 2004 points but OKW makes this a little better at this time. When we close, I'll see about our guide getting reservations at BCV just in case though.

If you bought direct from DVC, you can make a reservation now. They usually willn't let you bank or borrow, but you can book some nights. Your guide may be able to help get around the no banking/borrowing until closing rules.

Just to agree with the previous poster. I called our guide to add-on 100 BCV points, and called MS the next day to make Thanksgiving ressies with them. Not only had we not signed any paperwork, we hadn't given any kind of a deposit-not one nickel!

A word of caution regarding booking at BCV and then switching to OKW be careful regarding your points. BCV require more points than OKW.

Thanks again for all the advice. If I cancel a reservation using points that were borrowed from the next year do those points still go back to their original use year? Assuming the cancellation was prior to 30 days?

Nope, once points are banked or borrowed they can not be put back. You'd need to use those banked points by the end of the use year they are borrowed into.
