OKW and ECV?

I asked this question on the disability board, but I thought i might get more responses here. Has anyone stayed at OKW with an ECV? Did you request an elevator building or just first floor? We're tempted to just ask for first floor as there are buildings we like that don't have elevators. And for anyone with an ECV, has anyone gotten to the front desk, and found they've been assigned to a villa that just won't handle the ECV, an upper floor, non-elevator building? And has anyone with an ECV but without need for a HA villa been assigned to one? We love OKW, but now that I need an ECV, we're wondering of OKW will still be practical.

Been there several times with an ECV user. In every situation we've asked for a ground floor villa for medical reasons. We have always gotten one. Only once did we receive an HA studio and that was a one night stay before moving to a 2 BR villa. Stayed there more than 20 times I'd guess. We've always had ECV's that break down and fit in the trunk. We just pull the batter pack and take it and the charger unit inside to charge overnight. It's never been a problem to have an ECV at OKW. Oh - we've never had an elevator building either.

This happened to me too!
I have always gotten first floor when I have requested it at OKW. I could not walk up steps.

We have been to both OKW and SSR in the last year, asked for a ground floor because of the ECV and both times we were put on the ground floor.

We have been to OKW many times with an ECV. On our last trip there were 2! We always ask for a ground floor room for medical reasons and never had a problem. My only issue is that at South Point the HA 2 BR is a good distance from the bus stop. (Somehow I have stayed in that same villa twice!) But the only HA Grand Villa is directly across from the bus stop.

We have been to OKW and other DVC resorts many times with an ECV. We ask for a ground floor room for medical reasons and never have had a problem. A few locations have been tight and had a little difficulty getting the ECV in the room, parked out of the way and recharging. Have found Disney to be very sensitive and accommodating for those with accessibility issues.

Great to hear, thanks! We won't be in OKW until January (DH runs-I barely walk!) but I'll call ASAP. Yes, I've always found Disney very accommodating so I shouldn't have been worried.
