Ok, so why is the OKW grand villa pts chart so low? I have never been to OKW so I am not familar with it at all. Is the resort just older? Not as nice as others? Bad transportation? Seems like a great deal, other than they might be really hard to get....why are they so low in points?

Disney didn’t know how to price these things when they introduced DVC. It’s a great deal.

The OKW points chart is overall so low because it was the first DVC - in fact, its legal name is The Disney Vacation Club, because when it was built Disney had no idea that it would be the success it has been and that other resorts would be added. Points charts for the later DVC resorts increased little by little (and later by leaps and bounds, I think). It has nothing to do with the quality of the resort.

It’s an awful use of points!!! Trust me, 2,400 square feet, 4 bathrooms, large balcony, large laundry room. The rooms are nice, but not as breathtaking as newer resorts are. There are a few minor issues that can affect some. There are stairs you have to walk up just to get in. Most are on the 2nd floor. There are a few in 1 building with an elevator and I believe 1 on the first floor. One bedroom has 2 full size beds, instead of queen size. 2 bedroom are up more stairs. Most of the time you will need points at OKW to book these due to the great value. Probably one of the best values in the DVC lineup.

Is there really just one that's on the first floor? If that's the case, the GV must be very difficult to book there if you use an ECV.

But OKW is not a great location, long bus rides, food service is poor, CMs are all miserable... do not stay here. Spread the news about how bad it is... maybe less people will want to try it... it's getting hard to book our favorite resort.
Bill you're being too obvious.Shhhhhhhh!

That's one of the
Yes, but there are 2 more in a building with an elevator, so 3 in total.
That's a big disadvantage with a GV at OKW. As the population of OKW owners ages, there are probably an increasing number using an ECV and thus needing entry on the first floor or via elevator. Only 3 CVs at OKW meet that requirement-and those also are the only HA GVs. Only 3 available for both ECV and wheelchair users is a huge availability problem that all the points in the world wouldn't solve.

Or what size to build them either. OKW has the largest sqft rooms too. (ok not all, like pvb studios are larger but thats because they are converted)

we are doing a one bedroom but I noticed they have a lock off in a lot of the room yours they say is the second bedroom. I imagined this was a studio that someone would be staying in. I’m so nervous the kids are going to be too loud since the room is so big. But I saw some 2 bedroom room tours and it doesn’t look like it has a door. Does anyone know? I’m sure it’s a silly question I just know we will be in our room a lot, we are resort first, park people second. Thanks all.

What resort are you staying at? Im pretty sure that it would be a studio, which would make the 2 bedroom lockoff which is the studio plus a one bedroom.

I thought so. We never heard anyone when we stayed at the poly studios and had the adjoining door. My 12 yo sis “mom he’s a baby he can’t help it that he’s loud. A good person won’t care especially in the middle of the day” here’s to hoping it’s either empty, or a good person is in it lol.
When we’ve had noise through the connecting door, we’ve put pillows or rolled up towels along the bottom, and that did the trick. If you’re concerned that your family might be the noise maker, you could do the same! :cutie:
