I think it really 'hits me' when we are on our first bus ride of the morning to visit our first theme park. Everyone is so bright-eyed and excited to get to the entrance gate [usually MK] and the anticipation is at its peak. Well, how about you DIS'ers? What does it for you?? I mean BOOM! hits ya like a TON o' bricks, "We're not in Kansas anymore!", makes you feels like you are FINALLY HOME.......?

Seeing the Welcome to Walt Disney World on the street as you come into the area.

Oh, yes!

Also, getting out to the limo and the Bell Service says, "Welcome home, Ms. Ferris."

For me it's Cinderella Castle at MK!!!! Yes, the sign gets me more and more pumped as does seeing the resort and our room, riding the bus and all that...but in order to really KNOW and FEEL WDW I just HAVE to see the castle and then I feel at home for the rest of our trip!!! :goodvibes

for me the excitement begins before we actually get on property... as soon as i hit mco, i'm *THERE!*

for dh, it's when he gets the bill :rotfl2:

I know im in WDW when I ride on the Monorail from our gate to bag claim in MCO. That when it really hits me.

Gosh, mine is pretty much once I start seeing palm trees in abundance as we're driving in....I watch for them. We still have an hour + drive at that point, but that's close enough for me to be happy!

Since we have only been one time as a family there are alot of things that gets me in the Disney Spirit but I think the biggest thing is seeing the signs that say "MGM" or "Animal Kingdom" or ML or Epcot. Also the castle, Tree,--usually stuff.
Just crossing the state line and having OJ at the rest area lets me know I'm almost there!!! :)

Welcome to Disney World sign does it for me as well. All the billboards up before that get me excited but until we hit the arch it isn't 100% real yet.

The smell.......

The smell that comes from the hotel and the dtd shops.....It really strikes a cord to me.

As DVC-ers, the "Welcome Home" greetings from Cast Members.

Seeing those purples road signs. Where else in the world do you see them? Certainly not here in NJ.

The castle! We arrived in the afternoon the last trip and headed to MK for the afternoon. I actually got teary eyed walking down Main Street - does this happen to anyone else?

The boardwalk sign that lights up as we always come in late at night . Then this is pretty much me----->

I think the signs are one thing for me, but really, it's seeing Cinderella's Castle...especially when I can see it in the distance as we are on the monorail....I just love the site of the castle in the background and knowing that I'm almost there!!!

Seeing the palm trees as the plane lands. Honestly, that's my cue that I'm really on vacation... :cool1:

We have a tradition that as soon as we can see the Welcome sign after getting off I-4, we start video taping and crank up "It's A Small World" on the CD player. We play it all the way to the resort, taping here and there. We also make sure we video the first Disney bus we see. That's the first thing that says we are definitely there.
