Okay, what do you do...

Nothing. However, if I notice that there is pee on the seat when I look in the stall....the "offender" might get an "Did you notice there was pee on that toilet seat...how gross!!" It's funny. The person ALWAYS says, "I know. It was there when I came in."

I don't think purell cleans your hands good enough. I think you should wash your hands thoroughally and then use purell. It doesn't have to be either/or.

I will admit I get grossed out when people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom.

Ditto. I wash my hands, then open the door with one paper towel, walk to my office where I open another door with a paper towel, then go to the antibacterial pump dispenser on the wall and use it. Yep, I'm a germophobe.

Do? LOL, nothing. I hardly notice people in public bathrooms. I do my thing and leave. It's unlikely I would notice whether or not they washed their hands.

OK, that is usually me. I go out and use Purel on my hands. Most people who wash never use soap so what is the use of running your hands under the water? Plus the door handle is gross. So don't be so quick to judge, the non handwashers aren't necessarily germ infested!

So when you open your purse to take the Purel out you now have "bathroom germs" on your purse.

When you un-cap the purel you now have "bathroom germs" on the bottle.

And that is better than washing your hands with warm soap and water before leaving the bathroom??? :confused3

Actually, alcohol based gel cleans VERY well. We did an experiment in micro last summer where we grew various common microbes and then we used various cleaners to see which were most effective. The only thing that worked better than the gels was chlorine bleach, and I won't use that on my hands LOL

Also, in the hospitals, the gel is at each patient's doorway and in many other areas. We are encouraged to use it frequently (upon entering and leaving the patient rooms, etc) UNLESS our hands are VISIBLY soiled.

But, but, it WAS there when I came in!!!! :rotfl:

I also use my own anti-bacterial wash after I leave the bathroom. I don't have "bathroom germs" though. I touch nothing. I grab a napkin before heading to the bathroom and use that to open the door to the bathroom and the door to the stall. I use it to life the seat up so I can hover and not cause anyone else problems. I flush with my foot. I use toilet paper to open the stall door and a paper towel to open the door to the bathroom.

When I get back to my desk, I wash my hands. I'll take my chances with whatever I might pick up from myself, but our bathroom at work is NASTY and I've been tempted to buy a chem suit since holding it for 10 hours isn't an option anymore. :guilty:

I was just in the hospital with my sister who is an RN, and her premature baby. The hosptial has switched over to alcohol based hand sanitizer as well as it is much more effective than hand washing. Hand washing with soap has been found to be less effective if not done properly. This was explained to me by my sister and her doctor because I thought it was bizzare. Proper hand washing was described as soap first, then water, and actual washing for more than 30 seconds, or thru 2 chourus's of Happy Birthday.

Yes. When you've had to go to another floor to beg someone for their code to use their bathroom because the one on your floor makes you gag, you wouldn't touch anything either. Besides, it's a good day if there is even any soap in there at all....I don't even think the maintenance people want to venture in there. :guilty:

Unless I have contact with skin or bodily secretions, I don't wash. And I use gobs of TP to ensure that I won't.

At work in the hospital, we have to wash our hands, I don't know, probably 50 times a day. Wash and alcohol before touching someone, alcohol only after.

Washing with soap and water gets stuff the alcohol sanitizers miss, so we have to do that. BUT, washing with soap and water brings stuff up from deep in your skin, so then we are supposed to use the alcohol stuff to be rid of it.

You try washing your hands and then applying alcohol to them 50 times a day. Then add in the times that you just use the alcohol. It makes your hands extremely dry. Nurses who work 40+ hours can't even do it. The skin starts cracking and bleeding, and not like little cracks because your hands got dry in winter and you didn't use your lotion. If they continued, they'd damage themselves and their skin would, I don't know, fall off.

So, anytime I don't need to, I don't wash my hands. And I'm not the only one.

As for other people, I don't pay any attention to what they do or don't do, so I don't have any basis on which to react.
