A levee is a small ridge/raised area or enbankment that keeps a river from overflowing.

What about The Safety Dance?
Boy.....am I dating myself or what? :rolleyes1

Hey! I remember the Safety Dance too...haven't heard that one in years! It's a fun song.

I don't know its title (if it has one), and I've no idea how to spell the "lyrics", but I've always enjoyed a song I learned from a girl I met many years ago. Makes no sense to me, but I like it nonetheless.

Flea! (Flea!)
Fly! (Fly!)
Flow! (Flow!)
Vee-stah! (Vee-stah!)

Koo-mah-lot-tah, koo-mah-lot-tah, koo-mah-lot-tah vee-stah! (Koo-mah-lot-tah, koo-mah-lot-tah, koo-mah-lot-tah vee-stah!)
Oh, no, no, no, no, no vee-stah! (Oh, no, no, no, no, no vee-stah!)

Beat billy oat dote, doe-dote-'n'-beat'n-bot'n-shhhhhhh! (Beat billy oat dote, doe-dote-'n'-beat'n-bot'n-shhhhhhh!)

I haven't heard that song since summer camp! Now I have it in my head!!! (But still have no clue what it's called). ;)

Yay! Someone else knows this song! I have never heard anyone else ever sing it except the girl that taught it to me. If I remember correctly, we sang it the showers (at camp) one afternoon when we were supposed to be swimming. We took all the hot water.

Or in the case of American Pie - it's a bar in Rye NY.

Blinded by the Light (the Manfred Mann version). I can make out some of the lyrics, all of which make no sense. I don't care...I turn the volume way up and sing (well, sorta!) :music:

Now that I think about it, I might have got the opening wrong. I think I remember that it went "Flea! (Flea!) Fly! (Fly!) Flow! (Flow!)" instead of what I originally typed. Which is it? Should I edit?

Well, just looked them up---and I swear he was singing about massingil. "Mom, can I ask you something?"--remember that commercial. Yes--that is what I kept hearing in this song! I couldn't figure how you rev one up. :confused3

Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night

rest of the lyrics here: http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/blow/blindedbythelight.htm

I love blinded by the light too, I didnt know for years either what the heck they were saying. I'd also say the "massengill" version just a singin' along...

I also use to sing "jetairliner" as a big jet plane and a line up....until the guy I was dating said what the heck are you saying? But even when I'm told the right words, I still keep singing them my way...Now, it drives my hubbie crazie... :rotfl2:

Kenny Chesneys song "big star " I sing the line "she signed autographs like she was Gods little sister"...it is of course "she signed autographs like she was garth brooks in a skirt"...That drives my hubby crazy but I argue that I'm sure Gods little sister would get asked for her autograph all the time...LOL

Wow, I cannot believe I got a definition instead of a crazy lyric! :rotfl2:

Another one I thought of:

MacArthur's Park... (someone left the cake out in the RAIN?) :confused3

"And I'll never get the recipe again....." So, who made the cake? And, why can't she get the recipe? And, why can't she just make a regular cake? Why THAT recipe?

I have visions of Carrie Underwood singing this song on American Idol dressed up like a Stepford Wife. :confused3

Alanis Morrisette: Head over Feet:
There's a lyric where she sings "You've already won me over....."

DD used to sing "Somebody run me over....." :rotfl2:

As you may already know, Bruce Springsteen wrote and recorded the original version of this song. On a recent episode of "Storytellers" on VH1, he gives a very entertaining explanation of the lyrics...almost literally line by line.

He also jokingly bemoans the fact that when he released the song, it went nowhere, but Manfred Mann's version rocketed to number 1 on the charts. A result, he believes, of the fact that M.Mann's version said the word (for massengill), while he (Bruce) had used the word "deuce". In his words, "One is a little sports coupe, and the other is a feminine hygiene procedure."

Madman Drummers (his drummer at the time was "Madman" Vinnie Lopez), bummers, Indians in the summer (his little league team as a child was the Indians)....

He goes on and on, but I won't here.

New Moon On Monday (Duran Duran)

Actually one of my favorite songs ever...makes NO sense:

Shake up the picture, the lizard mixture with your dance on the eventide
You got me coming up with answers all of which I deny
I've said it again but could I please rephrase it?
Maybe I can catch a ride.
I couldn't really put it much plainer, but I'll wait till you decide.
Send me your warning siren...as if I could ever hide

Last time la luna
I light my torch and wave it for the new moon on Monday and a firedance through the night
I stayed the cold day with a lonely sattelite
New moon on Monday and a firedance through the night
I stayed the cold day with a lonely sattelite

Breaking away with the beast of both worlds
A smile that you can't disguise
But every minute I keep finding clues that you leave behind
Save me from these reminders, as if I forget tonight

This time la luna
I light my torch and wave it for the new moon on Monday and a firedance through the night
I stayed the cold day with a lonely sattelite
