Anybody find it odd that a military wife want's to squelch free speech?

I understand that you don't like the message, etc. etc. But, if you are in the military, isn't that one thing you are serving to protect us from, squelching free speech?

Well called me out didnt you? You are completely right I don't like the message. And this isn't about free speech. This is about trying to start a riot all for making money. Do you know about this organization? How they make their money start riots and fights just to sue people? My friend's spouses are dying so these worthless pieces of skin can hold up signs to say "soldiers are paid killers" I dont think so. Not while Im around to say something. This is about greed pure and simple.

This particular church group pulled a similar stunt before at a totally inappropriate gathering (can't recall the details, though). It gives them maximum publicity. The best thing to do with hate mongers is to ignore them. Hard to do, but that is what will annoy them the most.

Not gonna debate whether they are dying for the right of others, in this country, to hold up signs, but, assuming that their presence in the military, and past sacrifices of the military, gives the right of people to hold up signs, isn't it going opposite to state the above?

Just think, if all of you would just let these people protest as they have the right to, and not raise such a hub bub, we wouldn't be publishing their efforts and spreading their message.

So, for them and their message, it is the right place, because everybody gets upset over it, and trys to stop them, instead of just letting them go and do their thing, and ignoring them.

Yes, it's for real. They were here in Sarasota a few weeks ago after it was in the news that we had lost our first soldier in Iraq. It was utterly shameful and disgusting.

Hey, I'm all about free speech, but as an American and a human being, I am completely repulsed by their message, their hatred, and their choice of protest. It is utterly insensitive and they are completely missing God's message of love.

NO matter whether they are within their free speach rights are not, I think the OP is justified, they are NOT making peacable protest. The occasions they choose to picket ect are in many cases personal moments, desecrated by their idiocracy. I am sorry that you are going through this, and guess what, whether it's free speach or not, you dont' have to like it, that's YOUR right of free speach!

Or is this some other idiotic group? Yes. They protest at a funeral for 2 soldiers in our area this past fall. and the signs said It is Gods punishment to kill all (f*gs and if they are soldiers killed in Iraq, they must be a f*gs.

This freedom of speech hurts the families whose loved one just died defending our country, it is a hate crime protest against gays and lesbians-it is such a blantant lie. How can anyone express a lie about your dead son lying in a casket and getting buried and looking up at a sign and being told God killed him because he is a f*g

We have a Sheriff in our county that just came home from Iraq. He volunteered himself for 18 months. He moved these people back 500 feet away from the church of a 20 yr old that just died in Iraq funeral They are claiming on their web page that one of their women was assaulted by Sheriff Nehls. They are writing letters to our editorial pages just ripping Sheriff Nehls apart. Sheriff Nehls has just proposed a bill that no one can protest or demonstrate at anyone's funeral. They have to stand back 500 ft which isn't still far enough away.

This happened in Mayville, Theresa, Ripon Wisconsin.

I'm sure we're all for free speech, but there is such a thing as simple as common decency and respect for human suffering and grief. To practice hate in the name of God is a horrible symptom of their pathetically diseased minds. We had two local soldiers killed last month - and these morons had the nerve to protest outside the Church/Funeral Home!

Free speech!!! How is it anyones right to desecrate my loved one's funeral????? How is it anyones right to wave signs and scream and yell that the father I am burying was a paid killer???? How is it anyones right that when my heart is breaking in two and I want to die with him that someone can scream that my husband was a F** and god wanted him to die??? Tell me please how is it their right to do that? Laws need to be made that state small minded and bigoted protest's CAN NOT happen at funerals!!! What normal human beign would want to do that!
