Diane/Rob, I just pulled out the old Cassell's German-English/English-German and schlicht means homely (not Diane, I know her), simple, modest, unpretentious, straightforward, sleek, smooth. But, then, she married into that name. So it really refers to her husband.

LOL, Deb!! Well, after 40 years, I guess marrying into it makes it part of me by now! Besides, most of the previous generation is gone, so who cares anymore on that one! BTW, have you met my DH? He's pretty quiet compared to me!!
