I have been reading but have never posted on this board before. I started out with the idea to tie dye Mickey shirts for the family. Well then I went to AC Moore and got overwhelmed. I finally saw this cool colored fabric spray! Hmmm I thought..I can do that! So we bought two colors: orange and red. I came home and printed a mickey head out on the computer. I cut it out and then traced and cut on posterboard. I taped the poster board Mickey to the front of a white t-shirt and it came out like this

I was trying to figure out what to do with the back. My husband free handed this

So what do you think? The spray gives it a bit of a marbled effect. The kids were able to do their shirts themselves which was important to me. Pretty easy and cheap! We can't wait to wear them and see Mickey!!

Ok so I have no idea why the pictures are sideways. Not like that in photbucket. Sorry!

Thanks! I don't know why but the color did not photo well. It is really more of a sherbert orange sherbert color. On here it looks very rusty and dull. Hmm-go figure. I know they are nothing compared to some of the stuff on here. I am not very crafty and I wanted my kids to actually be involved in their shirts and me not micromanaging what they were doing. This was sort of free to be done in whatever way you want.

oh good! i can't wait to see the pic. have a great vacation!

What a great idea!! :thumbsup2 While I love tie-dye, I can't be bothered with the mess. (Can we say lazy? :rotfl:) These look quick & easy by comparison.

Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to see the group shot. :) Have fun on vacation!

Haha! I am the same way. I mostly don't want to stress about the mess. This was SOOO much easier.

The time you spent WITH your kids, and allowing them their own style and creativity makes these shirts more valuable than anything.
Oh, and they look great, too! :thumbsup2

i totally agree. the time you spent is way better!

I have been playing with/testing homemade stencils and spray fabric paint for our Disney shirts, and came to the boards to look at others' ideas for inspriation today. These are great!

Thanks! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for....tye dye process looks a bit tedious for me!;)

Another easy way...along the same line...is to put the Mickey template on a colored t-shirt and spray with bleach water. Ours were so cute. I slipped a heavy piece of cardboard inside the shirt first, so the bleach wouldn't soak through. My Mickey head was cut out of an old cereal box. I lightly tacked around it so it would stay put (they anchored nicely in the cardboard that was underneath). Then I sprayed it with bleach water 50/50 (make sure your sprayer does a light mist and doesn't spit puddles). I then put it in the sun for about 5 minutes. I then submerged it in a sink filled with vinegar water (I heard this stops the bleaching process). Finally, I laundered as usual.

The shirts were sooo cool. I also did some that said "DISNEY 2009" under the Mickey head by using the small, foam, sticky letters and numbers that you get at Walmart or Michaels. I stuck them right on the t-shirt before spraying with bleach. A very easy project!

Cute shirt - I really like that idea. Also floridascgirl's version with the bleach. One question - how did your husband freehand the writing - with a brush and fabric paint, or what? He did a really good job.:thumbsup2
