Okay, I've never rented a car before

and I'm thinking about renting one to drive to WDW in October.

I received a quote for a 9-day rental, intermediate, unlimited miles:

$196.26 (taxes, etc. included) I used a code from mousesavers

I also have a coupon for $20 off or one free weekend day rental which will be applied at the rental counter

So, approx. $176.00 for 9 days

Is this a good rate? Oh, this is through Avis

The only thing I see is applying a weekend coupon to a 9-day rental. I've only rented with National and the fine print states the coupon is only good for over a weekend.

Read the fine print, many agencies limit your free mileage if you drive out of state.

I've read through everything from Avis and see nothing about driving the car out of state.

I would call the rental company direct and ask them if the rental is allowed out of state, specifically to Florida. If you live in Georgia then it would probably not be an issue. If you live in Vermont it may be an issue. If you take a rental out of state and it is not allowed you are then responsible for the car if anything happens to it, even if you opt for insurance.

Some car rental companies allow it, some don't and some it will depend on the area you are renting the car.

Also, as others have pointed out, your weekend coupon won't work on a week long rental. You can always ask but it best to assume it will not be valid for your rental.

okay, let's forget the "weekend day rental."

I still have coupon for $20 off any rental of 5 or more days - I guess I can use this one. I've read the entire coupon and it seems as though there will be no problem.

As far as out of state goes, I'll call and ask.

As far as driving the car out of state, here's the email response I just received:
