Okay, I've got this bug...

and it's killing off one of my shrubs in the front yard. It's down beneath the green surface on the wooded part of the shrub, and it puts some sort of web on the wood that kills it.

Anyone know what it is or how I can diagnose it?

That doesn't sound good. What kind of shrub is it? Can you see any of the little nasties, maybe with a magnifying glass?

Sounds to me like spider mites. Any kind of insecticide spray safe for flowering plants should kill them.
