What a beautiful picture PW. It is so lovely and rare to see that type of relationship today. Reminds me of my grandparents, who have both passed away. Thinking of that, I should get my mother a card. My grandmother passed away 3 years ago on the 14th of this month, and my mother takes it very hard each year, they were extremely close.

re: colder weather...

I was a native Floridian, born and raised here. I didn't see snow until I was 18 years old when I took a very small trip to Ohio in December. That was my one and only experience with snow for years, and then my ex got a job in Indianapolis and we moved up there. Last year's winter was rough. At first, snow was such a novelty, then it became like FL rain...an annoyance. I loved coming home to FL for X-mas last year and being able to wear shorts and tank tops and flip flops, and walking on the beach!! Although it was sad and dreary sometimes up in IN, it was also beautiful in so many ways that FL just isn't. I LOVED when it was becoming fall up there. It was like a picture post-card. The trees turned amazing shades of yellow, red, orange, pink, and purple. I had never seen anything like it except for on TV or in a picture. Here in FL we go from green leaves on the tree to dead leaves on the ground!! ;) The snow was also magical at times. Maybe not so much for someone who would have grown up around it, but for a new-comer to snow it was "special." Watching it at night, and waking in the morning to find everything bathed in a sheet of white. Again it almost looked like a picture, not real life for me. Another thing I LOVED about living up north was how good it was for my hair!! ;) Low humidity!!!!!! Unilke FL, which seems at times to be the humidity capital of the Universe!!!! The worst parts of course were when the snow would start to melt and mix with dirt and then you would get wet nasty stuff tracked into your house and car, or when you would *ahem* slip and fall on your bum. I remember a particularly embarassing time when I took a nasty spill in a big ice patch!! While I am happy to be living back in FL for so many reasons, there are tons of things I feel I missed out on only spending one season in the snow. So many things I want to experience. They may sound childish to people who had these experiences when they were kids, but I have never built a snowman, or had snow ice cream. I have never been ice skating or skiing. Some day I think I will move north again, because FL just doesn't hold any special feelings for me (except of course for WDW). For now though, I will be happy that I can walk outside in bare feet and a bathing suit to lounge in the sun, instead of bundled into a warm coat and gloves!!

Today would have been my parents' 52nd wedding anniversary. They're both in Heaven now, and I hope they're having a huge party today!
:sunny: The angels have set a beautiful banquet and laid it before them today! And we will celebrate with you and your parents. Thank you for sharing that beautiful photo.

House of Princesses - What a shame we just miss each other. Ah well, next time hopefully! :)

Anyone else out there the same time?

Disney845 - Loved reading about all your different weather experiences. Over here we get every season in moderation! Though it's been in all the papers recently that the autumn trees are similar to those of New England this year because of the summer weather we experienced. It is truly beautiful, especially here where I live in the New Forest.

Astrid x

Astrid-
What are the dates that you will be at DW? It looks like your counter means you will be there in 25 days? I will be there 12/19 for MVMCP.

PW- Nice photo of your parents and how great that they stayed married (hopefully happy)

Disney845, your ambitions of experiencing cold weather is hardly childish! I was born and raised in the Chicago area. I know all about it, and I StIll love to put the outdoor flood lights on in the back, open the blinds, turn the lights off inside and just watch the flakes fall! Even better, I love to go outside and experience it first hand! We had snow this Christmas Eve, and that was wonderful. (Our Christmas tree is against the same windows I look out onto the yard.) I hope you find a time when you can come north and fulfill all your wishes!

especially here where I live in the New Forest.
Astrid, I giggled at this...New Forest. Just how old is this New Forest? I bet it's got any of ours beat by a few hundred years, at least! :jester: And too bad we'll miss each other! Maybe next time!

Thanks for the hugs, pixie dust, and lovely messages, everyone! It has been a day that's turned out to really appreciate those in my life and let them know it before it's too late. I always end my phone conversations with...I love you...because none of us is guaranteed tomorrow. So let the people you love in your life know it each day!!

I also miss the fall weather we had in NJ. I miss walking to those high school football games dressed in jeans, a sweatshirt, and hearing the crunching of leaves underfoot. I REALLY miss that! I miss the gently falling snow late at night when everything is quiet, and being the first one outside making footprints in the snow. I don't care for the cold, but the snow is gorgeous. Maybe just a little snow when I'm in VA for Christmas would be good. As long as they keep it off the roads!! ;)

Pin Wizard, what a lovely photo. Your parents are sure to be enjoying each other's company.

:grouphug:

legs22 - I leave for home again on the 20th December, am staying at the Dolphin for my last few nights.

House of Princesses - Yes, it's a ridiculous name for the Forest, I just copied this from a local guide ....

"The New Forest hasn't really changed since William the Conqueror gave it his special protection nearly 900 years ago."

So, it's hardly new is it!!! It's a fantastic place to live and I really appreciate it's beauty having grown up in East London!

Pin Wizard - I'm glad your day is going well. It's good to tell people you love them, and I shall take a note of what you said and make sure I do so more often.

Astrid x :wave2:

Thanks, Margie and Astrid!! I'm glad you will be doing so more often, Astrid! It's so important.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up in case you wanted to check it out that there is a single WDW fan thread going on over on the Adults and Solo board...of course they are much more discriminatory over there and only want you if you are over 30 :snooty:

J/K I am sure they are all very nice as well!! :)

Adult and Solo single thread

Plus just wanted to point out to some of the older (and by that I only mean more beautiful and wise) women on this thread, that the other single's thread has quite a few MEN on it....so race on over there girls, who knows, some of those single Disney loving men might be from your neck of the woods!!!

Just a sec...I did just see a mid-twenties young man over there...might just have to introduce myself *wink, wink* :smooth:

PMed you PW!

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I have too much fun here. ;)

You all have more fun than I. I was looking into getting a Microsoft A+ certification. I found a class on it for around $2,890! I found a book on Amazon.com for $40. I wonder what I should ask for Christmas. :)

Barry- Ask for a rich wife, then you won't have to buy the book or take the class, you could live off of her money!! :cool1:

LOL! I was talking to someone today about brains vs. money. LOL! His brother is doing really well owning a few restaurants. And he's the dumb one. LOL! I told him...that's okay...I prefer brains over money any way. :smooth:

Yes...but wouldn't it be great if the package came with both brains AND money ....oh and we could go ahead and through in looks for good measure!! ;)

Hi, I'm back.
It seems that other thread is more for singles without kids.

LOL! We must think alike. When I said that, my friend (he's the one with the brains) said that most people wouldn't have said that. They would take the money. I figure...worse comes to worse...money can be lost. But you've always got your brain and can make more if you have to! But I don't need a rich person. To live comfortably without worry would be just fine!
