HeHe!! Is that standby or fastpass?? Or wait, we could probably all go in the "single riders" entrance!!

Do you think you would recognize me Barry? I did run into you this past May!! :smooth:

Oh goodness, I've done it again, left it a few days of not reading the thread and I have pages to work through!!

Glad everyone is doing good.

Just love that poem re. the moon, sorry can't remember who posted it, and Barry, obviously the next Poet Laureate (a British honorary title if you didn't know!!).

Glad to read FF326 has carried on posting after confusing me with his first post (mind you, I am easily confused!). ;)

Disney845 - Glad your date which wasn't a date went well, though, yes I admit, I was also thinking ooooo, ahhhhh, when I saw what time you got home!

Seems like the nights you've been having have been far better than the ones over here - it's damp and cold and pretty yuk down here on the South Coast of England!

So, we're now up to .... 2 Guys, 1 Brit and sorry but lost count of the number of other girls. Think we need to recruit some more guys onto here you lot!! Barry is obviously still working through his line to the left - did you set up a fastpast system?!! :)

As for me, well, bit of a surreal weekend all in all, certainly not as expected, don't want to bore you all rigid but the key point were ... met very young, boy band lookalike on Friday night. Went out dancing with a male friend (yes ... a friend!) on Saturday, after having a text message from the guy I'd been waitin go hear from (we'll call him 'M') confirming our date for next Saturday :bounce: . Drove my male friend home after us going out and get another text from 'M' asking me what I was up to, and I ended going back to his house at some unearthly and doing a Disney845 and not getting home till 1pm yesterday - oops!!

However, still not sure where I stand as and he says he'll call me in the week re. us going out Saturday so I'm still having to keep my fingers crossed - men huh!! With apologies to Barry and FF326!!

How about everyone else, what you all been up to?

How's the poem work going Pin Wizard?

Astrid x  (who's making a promise to check this thread everyday from now on!).

Well sounds like most everyone had an entertaining weekend - myself included.. went to a bonfire party on Friday night with a couple of girlfriends and 2 male friends .. we all laughed soo hard my stomach was still aching on Saturday afternoon !! I have decided that even if there is no one till my kids get bigger ( they are 10 and 7 now ) that with my friends I have - and my family - I will be ok !! Michelle

Didn't check in last night, so I missed a bit, too. FireFighter, may I send you  s for doing something so sweet? Enjoy your special day!

I was in Sam's Club a couple months ago when I overheard two male friends greet each other. One of the men had his toddler daughter with him and told his friend that he was going to Bosnia soon. The other man walked away and I couldn't help myself. I walked up to him and with tears in my eyes asked if I could shake his hand. I told him that if my DH were here he'd do the same. I thanked him and walked away. Of course he was polite as ever and didn't call me into the looney police.

On another note, took the dog for an evening walk for the first time since July. (A big step!) It was cool (27?) but no wind and it was beautiful! I also cooked a pork roast yesterday. First proper Sunday dinner cooked by myself since July. I'm making progress!

(Of course, that roast probably wasn't near as good as firehouse chow! But I'm shy one firehouse or firefighter, for that matter! ;) )

Happy Monday Everyone! :sunny:

Last time I was here reading this forum I was using my Toshiba laptop and my cat jumped up on me spilling my chocolate drink into it, the screen went black, all the indicator lights died and I grabbed it and tried tilting it so the milk would drain out, I tried removing the back but there is a ton of small screws so i just used my little compressor that I airbrush with and tried to dry out what i could reach.
It booted up once but never again so I had to take it into town 50 miles away in Anchorage where I bought it, luckily I had the foresight to get the extended 3 year warranty so its in the shop right now, using my old mainframe PC right now which 4-5 years ago was top of the line.....now it cannot even play the latest video game "Halo" because its only 700mhz, also was an idea how computers keep advancing was that my Toshiba laptop was the biggest top of the line model when I bought it 11/2002 but comparing it to the same version now is like looking at two cars of the same make 30 years difference!

Hopefully its repairable, I almost went and bought another on Ebay, words of advice to anybody thinking of doing the same lookout....lots of scammers there trying to sell the latest laptops, best to buy one in a regular walk-in store....with a warranty:p

Besides its getting close to my departure point for my vacation and this year I plan on having plenty of spending cash because this year its 4 weeks instead of two in Orlando.

Welcome back, Mr. D! Sorry about your laptop. Hopefully you won't have to dip into your Orlando $$$! I have a relatively new laptop, (it was DH's) but I don't know how to use it to access the internet. I wanted to bring it along on our trip, but no sense in doing that if I don't know how to use the thing! I'm teachable, though. Maybe I can figure it out by then. Are you packing yet? Or is packing early strictly a girl thing?

Sounds like you've been busy, Astrid! And it sounds like you have your own line forming to the left!! ;) The poem isn't going. I want to blow off that paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I'll be working on it tonight and tomorrow to hand in at 12:30 on Weds. Who did we lose? We had 2 guys posting. Someone hasn't posted recently.

That sounds like sooooooooooooooooo much fun! The other day I was telling my son that I can remember being a kid and going camping...which I wasn't crazy about. But in the evenings they would always have a huge bonfire. I always had the greatest time there! :)

Yes you are, Vicki! GREAT progress! And each time you do it, it will get a little bit easier...promise!!

Not quite at the packing stage yet:p but last night I pulled down my big dry erase board I use for my projects and filled it up with all the info about the departure times, the codes for the locks and alarms of the rental house, the info about the rental car etc.
last visit to Florida made me wish for cooler clothes so this time I'm traveling light and going shopping after I get there, even my Alaska "summer" clothes were uncomfortably warm even in december in orlando! up here we do get hot days in the summer, but just a few that get over 80, mostly its mid 70's from june til aug, then its a norm of mid 50's until winter when everything is normal for almost 6 months of highs near 30 above with lows often as low as -45 in jan or so, but its been much warmer than normal the last couple of years.

Biggest challenge is controlling the allergies which have never plagued me in the 11 years since I moved up here, in Fla last visit they really hit me hard.

Aha! The MIA DISer is back! Hi, Mr. D! :wave2: Now we're up to 3 males. ::yes:: Four weeks on vacation? That's great! I don't think I could take Alaska in the winter. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

It's me again!

I can't count - it's 3 guys and 1 Brit, glad you've got your old pc up and running again Mr D, it's amazing how fast technology evolves isn't it .... one day you've got the latest computer, the next it's a deleted line. Interesting what you said about Ebay, I know a friend who was thinking of looking for a laptop on there - I'll pass on your message re the scammers.

Bigsis1970 - Sounds like a fun evening at the bonfire party - isn't it great when you laugh so much it hurts, same happened to me on Saturday, my friend and I just laughed and laughed - it was one of those 'I would like to box this up for a sad day' moments! :)

H of P - What a lovely story about you shaking the hand of that guy going to Bosnia. And from the sounds of it you really are making progress - fantastic :)

Oh, one more thing, if anyone is out in WDW the same time as me - see my post count - I'm there for two weeks with my two ankle biters and it would be great to meet up with someone if anyone is about.

LOL, not many can take on our winters! you almost have to be born into it, but where I live just north of Anchorage its technically the warmer part of Alaska, go north and of course its much harsher. I always prefer colder climates to the warmer ones, I have worked oilfield in Texas with 95 degrees, 90% humidity, very miserable, but OTOH I have worked at a ski resort at Lake Tahoe at 9,000 ft all winter as a mechanic and loved every minute, the air is usually always cleaner, drier and you just buy the right type of clothes for being in it.

Lots of people come up here, most move out after their first 6 month experiance of cold, cold and colder, days that have only a few hours of weak sunlight, roads iced over and nobody uses chains! we all have studded tires and even on white ice they manage to still break the speed limits. Myself I drive a massive concrete mixer so I'm pretty careful.

BTW I just noticed Astrid from the UK, my "villa" as the owner calls it is from the UK, he has a pretty well organized website complete with a discussion forum at Orlando Villas Forums

They are great people and have very professional about renting their own private homes to other people. I felt more like I was being invited to stay at a families home instead of renting one like a motel room, the one I rented is pretty popular, had to book it many months ago.

That would be me...a wimp in cold weather...LOL! I've actually started to think about possibly moving to Virginia, but the thought of winter keeps me from it so far! :hyper: No chains!! :earseek:

Love to meet up with you, Astrid! But I think we may be checking out when you're checking in..:( We are in FW cabins from 11/29 to 12/6. Of course, we all have AP's, so the thought of staying longer has crossed my mind. ;) If it weren't for holiday preparations needing to be done, I'd stay!

I just have to post this here, my single friends. Today would have been my parents' 52nd wedding anniversary. They're both in Heaven now, and I hope they're having a huge party today! They were blessed with 40 years together before Dad died. So I'm sending them hugs and prayers today. Love you, Mom and Dad!!!
