I'm trying not to be too nervous, but, I am. :(

We fly out early Friday morning, and are supposed to go on our first ever cruise (a month early 25th anniversary present to ourselves), on the Magic, on Saturday. At the moment, no one seems to know if the Magic will be able to get back to PC this Saturday, and if not, where she might safely dock.

Hurricane Frances is getting scarier by the day!!!

I know we have some Canadian DISers already at WDW, and I hope they'll be okay!!?!!

I can't even imagine how anxious our Florida friends must feel....and so soon after Charley! :( :(

Good thoughts and prayers to all of them!

Turn Frances, turn!!!

TURN FRANCES TURN, TURN FRANCES TURN, TURN FRANCES TURN!! Kim, I'm sending lots of Pixie Dust your way and to all those down there! We're heading down in 3 weeks and I"m worried about how active this Hurricane season is. We've gone 6 other times in Sept and have not run into any real weather issues....not sure we'll be so lucky this time. Hopefully this will all work out and you'll be basking on Castaway Cay soon...it will be really nice to "bask" somewhere since we really haven't had a hot summer! Happy Anniversary!

Hey Kim:

All of the cruise lines are making adjustments to their schedules right now. I just got done reading an email from Royal Caribbean that shows all of the adjustments they will be making in their schedules this weekend. DCL will be doing the same and the safety of their ships and passengers are of the utmost importance. If you booked through a TA, they should be getting notification in the morning. If you booked direct, call DCL tomorrow and they will let you know of any changes.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I really, really hope that everything works out :goodvibes

Best wishes on 25 wonderful years!!!! I hope that you will be able to enjoy your cruise without too many big waves. At the least I am sure if the cruise is postponed that Disney will ensure that all get to cruise soon.

Oh Kim, my heart goes out to you and John as I can only imagine what's going on in your mind.:( I was just sitting talking to DH and mentioned that you were heading down there and hopefully things would clear out quickley.:D I'm also worried about what will happen to our upcoming trip in Nov. if she hits the area like they are predicting.

We're keeping our fingers and toes crossed for you and John that you get on board and on your special Anniversary cruise safely and that all the folks in Florida escape Frances' wrath!::yes::

Hope all the people in Florida stay safe and sound.

Keep thinking positive!!!!:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

You guys are so sweet, thank you for your kind thoughts! :D :grouphug:

Peggy, DCL did call me this morning. Of course, I was out! I phoned back and gave them all my contact info, that's what they were after. DU sent me an email, requesting the same. We still don't know yet, what changes (if any) have been made.

DH even called Disney tonight, to check on our Friday night ressie at POR. He wanted to know what would happen if the cruise was cancelled, and we had no place to go, would we have to leave? Of course they said no, and that the room would be ours. They also told him that they were booked solid. I'm guessing mostly Floridians moving inland.

Still hoping that Frances turns back out to sea, but it's looking pretty unlikely, and nasty! :(

Hopefully we'll know more by tomorrow.

Thank goodness I'm not a nail biter or I'd be down to my knuckles by now...lol. :teeth:

I'm amazed at the number of people who are turning to the DISboards as their official "Frances Information Station." Sorry folks -- but this isn't the place to get the information.
Go to www.noaa.gov -- it gives you all the info you need to know on the current status of Frances. If you read that you will realize the last place you want to be in the next 4 days is in Florida. The hurricane watch has already been issued for the Florida East Coast from Florida City north to Flagler Beach. A hurricane watch means hurricane conditions are expected in the area within 36 hours.
The eye of the storm is over the Bahamas right now -- that's Castaway Cay.

We were at WDW when Hurricane Andrew hit. The Disney folks were excellent in keeping us up to date. We had notices posted on our door throughout the days preceeding and during the hurricane to let us know what to expect. Although Andrew thankfully did not hit the Orlando area, it did of course bring some pretty heavy storms to the area and the heaviest crowds I have ever seen. People from southern Florida who had been evacuated were all looking for hotel rooms in the area and the crowds were huge, coupled with some very hot, uncomfortable weather. As I recall Disney did accomodate with extended park hours etc. as everyone tried to make the best out of a very bad situation.

Prayers sent out to all of those in Frances' path.

Oh I hope everything goes ok for you Kim. Pixie dust is being sent your way.

Happy Anniversary! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

No Not a Big Baby!

We had a hurricane on the day we were supposed to get married,on the beach, outside! We ended up re-setting to a few days later with no problems. The moral of my tale is that you will get to go and you will enjoy yourself even if the days change. Plus, what a great stroy to tell at your 50th anniversary! Pixie dust comong your way, you will be fine and you will love your cruise!:wave2:

I hope everything works out for you Kim :p Sending lots of PD your way ... I hope Frances turns away from Florida.

Prayers and pixie dust for you and all Floridians. Our trip is just over a week away and we're getting pretty nervous too. Haven't Floridians been through enough this hurricane season?? :( We're praying that Frances turns............

Disney is to issue an official statement at 1pm., regarding the status of this weekends cruises.

Our friends that we were planning to cruise with, are already at WDW (Wilderness Lodge). They went down on Tuesday. So far we haven't been able to get a hold of them. Hopefully we'll be able to reach them this afternoon/evening, after the announcement is made. I'm confident (?), that Disney will take good care of them.

I must admit, my packing has slowed down to a crawl.....

Still hoping and praying that Frances turns...:(

Lots of PD and prayers to everyone in Florida. I am hoping it all just goes away. We are flying down soon also and I have become addicted to all the hurricane updates websites. At least now my fear of flying has become secondary to worring about what will be left in Disney if this storm hits. I am sorry if this sounds selfish as it is not ment to. My number one concern is for the people that live in Florida. Lets all stand on the beach and blow it back out to sea.;)
