We leave for WDW in a few hours and my Mom posted a thread about my tooth crisis, http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1072250.

Yesterday I got a prescription filled for antibiotics and pain medication. The antibiotic won't kick in for another 24 hours and the pain medicine is not working correctly. I have been trying to sleep since midnight and I have had to get up and move because of the horrible pain about 7 times. I keep waking up a few times each hour and my Mom keeps saying that we might as well not even go on the trip. :guilty:
Okay, now I'm crying, lol. :sad2:
Please, if anyone has any ideas that would let me and my Mom still get to go, (even with just a little less pain) and that I would be able to sleep, please help me! :worried:
The only thing that helps the pain is standing up, sitting straight up, and swishing anti-cavity mouth-wash (which only helps for 10 min. until the pain returns.)

Thank you so much! :guilty:

You poor thing! Is there any way you could go to a walk-in clinic in the morning and get a different pain med? Are they even open Sunday mornings?

Thank you so much for replying so quickly, and I really appreciate your help, but I don't think I can do that.. :confused3 ..We went to the dentist Friday and he couldn't find anything wrong...We are supposed to leave our house around 6:30 am, drive to the airport, and our plane leaves at 10:30 am. I am so tired because we were at the hospital with one of my friends all night, last night because she had an emergency surgery to have her appendix removed. Thursday night I woke up with pain around one and was up an hour or so. I just really need sleep but, I can't even lay down.

Thank you so much! :grouphug:

I'm saying a prayer for you right now!

And I second the suggestion for a walk-in-clinic.

Are you flying or driving?

If you don't have time for a walk-in-clinic, maybe you could ask a pharmacist if it would be OK to take a Tylenol PM on top of your pain med. Then you could sleep in the car.

You know, sometimes when things like this happen, they just may be a blessing in disguise. Really! By staying home you'll never know what *could* have gone horribly wrong on this trip. Apparently it's just not meant to be. You need to get your tooth taken care of...perhaps with a different dentist. (Just read the other thread.) Then you and your mom will be able to really enjoy Disney the way you want. :teeth: Hope the pain subsides soon and you're able to get some rest.

Right after I walked away it suddenly ocurred to me that you hadn't said you weren't going on the trip. Sorry about that! Are you still going, even with the uncontrolled pain? What does your mom think about this?

So sorry about your toothache! Have your tried an over counter pain releiver?
I usually use Extra Strength Ambesol. It deadens pain immediately but it's only a temporary fix.
I hope everything works out OK.There's nothing worse than a toothache.Even a small one is really, really bad.
Good Luck.
Debbie

Does your doctor have an after-hours number? Maybe you could call now and get them to call in a different Rx to an all-night pharmacy?

Thank you for your prayers and help! We are flying there and the flight there is an hour and 45 min. I'm going to try and sleep on it because I can sit up on it. There is a small, local pharmacy down the road so maybe we could do as you said, but, I don't know when I would have another opportunity to use a Tylenol PM....we are going to the MK this evening and it closes around 2 am. We were going to stay until about 11:30 or so. Then, we are going to be at the parks for their openings in the morning. I took one pain pill around 12:15, waited 45 min., no help. Took another about and hour after the 1st...still no pain relief enough to lay down without bad pain.

Thank you so much for your :grouphug: help!

Thank you all for helping me! It's really kind and I really appreciate it! :grouphug:

We got in touch with him yesterday on his cell # (his dad gave it to us) because at the moment, he's moving and his phones are shut off at his home. We have his nurse's number, though. I'm not even sure if we have a walk-in-clinic here in our small town. Maybe there is one on the way to the airport in Mississippi... :confused3

again, thank y'all! :grouphug:

I've never tried that but, any pain relief that I can get, I'll take. We got some Oragel yesterday when we filled my prescription. I haven't tried it yet though because I've never used it and it's packed in one of the suitcases that I can't get to. I'll tell my Mom about the pain reliever you posted and see if we can get some. :)

Thank you, so much! :grouphug:

Dig out the Orajel!

Have you tried ice? Maybe you could get some of those portable ice things at the pharmacy before you go. (The kind you snap something inside and they get cold.)

There's a walk-in-clinic near WDW. Are you renting a car?

I will! :thumbsup2 I will ask my Mom about the ice things in a moment. Yes 'mam, we are renting a car. ::yes:: Thank you for letting me know that! :grouphug:

I'll be back in a few min. I found supportive pillow and I'm going to see if it helps any. I'll be back soon! Thank y'all, again! :grouphug:

Good morning! :sunny:
Well, after I left I managed to sleep for about an hour and 15 min. I was so tired I think I just felt how tired I was and not how bad I was hurting. The different pillow worked well and my Mom says that if the antibiotic (which should start kicking in within the next 24 hours) doesn't help we'll go to the Clinic near WDW. I told my Mom what the pain felt like and she believes that I may have an infection in a tooth. I hope the antibiotic will clear that up! :thumbsup2 I feel somewhat rested from any hour-nap and I am so ready!

Thank you to all who helped me on this thread! Y'all saved our trip!! Woo-hoo! I am really happy that y'all were on so early in the morning! Y'all are great people! :goodvibes

See y'all on the 11th! And Thanks again! :sunny:

Sincerely,

Sarah

use orajel. Try not to drink any pop, juice or anything with sugar and that may help. drink milk if possible. Maybe chloraseptic (spelling?) That always numbs my mouth when I use it. Good luck and have fun!
