I just can't figure out the fireworks for DLR. Do they not have the fireworks at the end of the night like Magic Kingdom does in WDW? If they do are they every night (as WDW) or just in the weekends? Also which park DL or CA?

Sorry if this sounds basic but I can't work it out for the life of me :confused3

yes, we have fireworks, called magical! this summer. During peak season, it is every night, during off-times, it switches to weekends only.
At Dl, not at DCA. DCA gets the Electrical parade.
hth.

The fireworks don't take place at the end of the night. They happen at 9:25 pm and the park doesn't close until later (usually midnight during the summer).

Remember, WDW is pretty much its own city. Anaheim surrounds DLR, and people who live around there can hear the fireworks. So you can understand why they don't have them at the very end of the night, nor every night of the year! The neighbors would stage a revolution! :)

it also has to do with an agreement with city of anahiem, in other words, Disney arent allowed to fireworks on school days except for Friday...

Thanks so much for the replies! :thumbsup2.

We are planning a trip either early October or early January so I assume that will be off season and we will need to plan to be at DLR over a weekend to ensure we get to see the fireworks. (planning a 5 night stay before or after our cruise and then a week in Las Vegas)

Once again, thanks so much.

If you go in the first week/weekend of January, they show it everyday for the Holidays. Then the holiday overlay comes down the first Monday of January, and the fireworks goes back to the F-S only.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but where does everyone watch the fireworks from? Does it matter (like it does in WDW) where you go to watch and do you need to grab a spot an hour or so earlier (like WDW?)

I try to get a spot right in front of the castle or a little further back down Main Street or to the right side toward Tomorrowland. In DL, if it's really busy, you will see people setting up blankets on the ground and saving a spot at least an hour ahead of time. If you wait, you will end up in the middle of Main Street if you're lucky. Some people stake out a spot 2+ hours ahead of time. I waited an hour and a 45 minutes on one Holiday trip in January and still ended up with some guy's head getting into my photos and obscuring my view of the castle because he was inching his way toward the space I had staked out.:headache: It happens....:sad2:

Oh wow - that would be so frustrating after you had spent the time waiting for so long and then someone doing that! It sounds like it must be a little like WDW and you do need to stake out a spot a while before the fireworks start. Thanks for the help. :)

Oh, yeah, I was totally frustrated. I kept saying 'excuse me' but the guy acted like he couldn't hear me. Maybe he couldn't hear me as we were so close to the fireworks and that and the music was loud. I almost reached out to tap his shoulder and ask him to move over, but I didn't want to start a major ruckus and everyone was pushing in, it wasn't just him. It's the entire crush of all the people. SO I sucked it up and hoped I would be able to learn how to photoshop his head out of my shots. I managed to fix some, but not most of them. <Sigh> Oh well...I did manage to get some photos another night. That's the thing when it's busy like that, you can't avoid getting people and things you don't want (like the back of someone's head) right in your shots sometimes. OTOH, everythings is up and running -- including all the shows!
I've only been to WDW over July 4 weekend (a major holiday in the U.S.) and it was insanely busy. That's how DL tends to get during their peak seasons, except it's worse because the walkways are smaller and can accommodate less people. Plus, the locals come in and will place blankets on the ground so 1 person can hold a spot for a group of 5 or more sometimes. So yeah, it gets crazy at DL, especially during the weekends when they are showing Fireworks and F! twice. When it's really busy, they've been known to throw in a 3rd F! show like what happened this past June when all the locals w/ SoCal APs were coming in. That was insane.
