Okay, I know the good....tell me the bad~

okay.....enuf peeps coming and going lately....and we're doin the "days" dance... :banana: One last bump for that place to avoid eating at...........

Add me to the list of those who hated the Classic Monster Cafe. The food was all very undercooked - our chicken and burgers were mushy, and the fries were soggy. It was gross.

What ever you do, make sure you get over to Margaritaville!!

We were not that impressed with Pastamore when we ate there a couple weeks back. Food was okay but for the money it was nothing special. The portions were big.

NBA City, Nascar Cafe, and Hard Rock Cafe were not all that great but not horrible. We went to HRC straight from USO so we exited via the "secret" exit which saved us a few steps! LOL!

We all really enjoyed Margaritaville immensely. The food was good, the atmosphere was fun. The kids enjoyed the balloon man and the erupting volcano that erupted Margaritas. The Chicken Caesar salad at Margaritaville was THE BEST I have ever eaten so I HIGHLY recommend it. The only drawback here was we had the worst waiter ever, man did he have an attitude!

Service was good everywhere else. We did not eat in the parks, only at citywalk so I can't speak for park food. The bakery in USO when you first go in, on the right side, had amazing looking sandwiches, with a side for $8. Everyone around me seemed to enjoy them. I sat in there to escape the heat with my sleeping youngest son while the others did Jimmy Neutron. If I went back I would definitely try it. The name escapes me but it is owned I believe by the cheesecake factory if that gives you an idea. They had great lemonade! LOL! And the cheesecakes and desserts looked wonderful and were reasonably priced.

Another big NO for monster cafe...my son wont even walk in the place , he hated it so much.

Emirl's Tchoup Chop at Pacific Royal was the best restuarant we ate at for the entire time we were there.

The restuaruant at Royal Pacific for breakfast had a very good buffet

Mythos at IofA was very nice for lunch--excellent service

And I always like Margaritaville and the Sandwich Place in Toon Landing at Iof A.

Also, avoid that meal plan thing they have going-- long lines to get the stupid wristband, and then another long line to actually order the food-- we tried doing it and waited through two lines of about 15 minutes each before we gave up and got our money back. Avoid the meal plan!!!!

but, the movie and meal at Universal City walk was a lot of fun and the food at the places we ate was very good.

It all depends on what you like, as you can see by the variety of responses here :goodvibes

We are a bit weird in that we love the expensive, multi-star restaurants and also will go with the flow of most park food.

We enjoy Pastamore - my teenage son loves the mussel/clam/something else pasta and my husband loves their eggplant lasagna.

We will eat at Mels, Circus McGurkis and Louie's, although they are not our first choices. Better burgers are available across the park.

We will not step foot into Monster Cafe - it is the only restaurant we have walked out of - the smell was nauseating.

We like the ribs at NBA City.

The food was just ok at Nascar the one time we visited - but if you are into cars, it is a fun place. We did it once for the experience and probably won't choose it again.

Mythos is much better than average.

LOVE Margaritaville. We always eat there once or twice.

And of course, we are the only people on the planet who have had the worst meal we have ever had, anywhere, at Tchop Chop. I am a salt-aholic, in fact my dear, sweet husband often jokes that he is just going to get me a horse salt lick for a gift. And if anybody is familiar with Dutch drop (salted black licorice) - I always eat the dubble zout or double salted. So, when I say Tchop Chop's food was too salty for me, that is saying that the chef must have spilled a 5lb bag of salt into his sauce by accident. But that is just one experience in thousands of great ones. In fact, we are ready to give it another try :)

Except for Monster Cafe, I can't say there isn't a place that we absolutely won't eat at. As long as you expect theme park food, you won't be disappointed.

I think you will just have to try something and see if it is to your taste. You will never know unless you try it. :teeth:

Finnegans was great at Universal. I ordered the appetiser of chicken strips, and they made it for me without the hot sauce, and substituted fries for the few carrot sticks that were supposed to come with it. Viola'--a meal. They were really good, cut from a whole chicken breast.

I have never eaten at Mel's, but I saw a women sitting on a bench with her husband fanning her, and she looked green----moaning, the whole bit.
I offered her a tylenol, and her husband said it was not a headache, that she just ate chili fries at Mel's and became violently ill. This was last week. Argument enough for me not to eat there.

We loved the Cheesecake Factory Boulangerie (?). :love: Good croissant sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. Desserts, as usual, were very good. My DS7 loved the Monster Cafe and ate all his pizza, but I thought their pizza was as bad as WDW.

We were also disappointed in the Jurassic Park restaurant next door to the JP river ride. The ribs were fatty with little meat. Chicken was OK, potatoes were good though.

Holy Moly!!!! I just realized how many "views" this thread has had!!!! :eek: Glad I asked! :goodvibes

Nascar Cafe - Big portions, terrible food covered in grease.

Hard Rock Cafe - Salads and the combo starter were great.

Other favourites were (can't remember the names);

Burgers from the diner in US, at the end of the lake.

Sandwiches and desserts from the cafe near Terminator.

i think all the restraunts are fairly well. however, if you're with kids, don't plan on a big thumbs up from mythos. sure the atmosphere is great, but the food is nothing special, even for the adults. for the kids, you can get the same food at any fast food universal restaurant!!! the only difference is mythos costs more.

In my experience at Mythos (I've eaten there at least a dozen times), the food is excellent and way better than what you can get at the other park restaurants (even for the kids). The fries alone are worth the trip. The potato bread is excellent.

We had a group of 17 (9 adults, 8 children) eat there June of last year and not one complaint. We all liked what we had.

I must completely disagree with this statement (well I do agree about the great atsmophere). Yes the the food is very "special", especially for a theme park restaurant, nor can you get the same quality of kids meals at any fast food USO restaurant.
My kids (along with any kids or adults I've dined with) always give Mythos a big thumbs up.

Okay, we're back...(well, almost.....)
Mythos= :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Margaritaville= :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 (ate here 2x)
Pat O'Brien's= :thumbsup2
Stayed away from Mel's and Circus McG.....other than that, no complaints!
