it's interesting how people can be divided down the middle on the same restaurants. don't mind Mels or Circus Mc, and love Monster's Cafe'.

i hear ya mcbean.

i always try the places three times before i make a decsion. if i go at an off time and the food has been out for a few hours already prepared, i realize it might not meet my standards. i take that into account.

during hhn one year, the food at louies was not the best for us.

i probably should stay away during the very late hours then.

I don't try out too many places to eat at Universal because I stick to my two faves, Mythos and Confiscos BUT I have tried a few others and they were all quite forgettable: Pastamore, NBA City and Hard Rock Cafe. I'm looking forward to trying a few more this next trip, but not the ones reviewed in this thread...

psst...asked for the "ugly" too..... by all means, don't hold back any recommendations. I had no idea SO MANY think Pastamore isn't that great..that really is shocking to me! I keep tabs on this thread and I'm relying on you all! C'mon DISer's...don't let me down!

2004 was our last dinner there, so it might have gone donw hill, but we've enjoyed it in 01, 02 and 04.
We had dessert and coffee at the couter service in Dec and enjoyed it.

The sandwiches at Boulangerie and Croissant Moon are very good. You get potato salad and some fruit and a great sandwich for a very reasonable cost.

Salads at Hard Rock Cafe are excellent as is the case at Mythos. We usually stick to the same places to eat.

I don't like Pastamore but my son does. I guess it just depends on what you order.

Does anybody but me like Mel's? They're chicken fingers are yum.

My kids love Mel's. The bacon cheeseburger is their choice meal. I used to like their chili dogs but they discontinued the chili and now I have to go to Wimpy's for my chili dog fix. I'll never forget the time we were at Mel's and I was selected to do the queue. There was a guy shuffling cheese in the back and a customer at the counter was yelling at him to wear gloves when he handled food.

Didn't like Confiscos, Open Doors Flies on Food, food wasn't that good. Don't like sharing my food with the Local Critters.

I'm a vegetarian, and usually just go w/ the flow. (I manage to find something to eat everywhere we go, unless its one of those Brazillian Steakhouses. All you can eat meat for 25.00 a person) Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for good food for dinner...just a place that I can get pasta, salad...or even possibly seafood, if I am in the mood. )

know that Tchoup Choup has Vegetarian offerings. A veggie stirfry at least, seems like they had other stuff too. I also think Mytho has a vegetarian entree.

But, I digresss.../ Thanks for the veggie tips. We plan to pinch pennies as much as we can during the day (will be hard with teens that are eating machines!) But, we want to have nice dining experiences in the evening, and one of my teenagers is dying to go to a Emerill's restaurant.
