Okay, Disboards, a free dinner is riding on this one...

as long as they were good chips I know my boys would love it!:thumbsup2

No sun chips etc though~ I can't pay anyone to those in my house

Not here - my kids love Sun chips! (Even in the "loud" bag :rotfl:)

OP, if you're not sure how giving out chips would go over, maybe you could buy half chips and half candy. I bet some kids will go for the chips, and others will go the traditional route!

I like the idea of giving out something different this year. What type of chips would kids like best (doritos, cheetos, potato chips)?

I say chips are fine. I saw cute little bags of Halloween pretzels at Wal Mart too.

OK, totally off topic, but what does it matter who pays for dinner? Doesn't it all come from the same place? :rotfl: Or is it just the "idea"! Anyway, enjoy your dinner out!!! :goodvibes

Depends on the kid. I would say that doritos and Fritos are probably most popular. Or Cheetos too. Heck, I'd eat ANY kind of chip!!!

my only concern about chips would be if they got smooshed in the bottom of the treat bag. but otherwise, both of my kids would love chips.

My kids would like the chips (because they'd get to take them in their lunch, and individual bags of chips are "so much better" than a few doled out from a bigger bag. I don't know why it's true, but I remember feeling that way as a kid, too.)

However, I don't think my kids are average on that. I think most would prefer candy.

Is he buying or cooking?

Oh, we will be going out.:)

OP-is he going to take you for fish and 'chips' if you win?:laughing:

:lmao:

I went shopping this afternoon and bought bags of candy AND a couple big boxes of the individual bags of chips. I also bought 6 10-pack boxes of CapriSun individual juices. My husband REALLY thought I had lost it when I told him I thought trick-or-treaters would love to get juice boxes! I told him it would compliment the chips.:thumbsup2

I think I just might give the choice of chips or candy. It would be interesting to see what I'm left with at the end of the evening.

Oh, it matters!:lmao: We each have our own spending money (a weekly allowance) and dinner will be coming out of the loser's spending money.

I asked my 2 kids how they'd feel if they got chips while out trick or treating and got a "that would be awesome" and a "I would be happy!"
:thumbsup2

Question for trick-or-treaters or parents of trick-or-treaters: What do you think about getting a smalll bag of chips (Sun Chips, Lay's regular chips, Cheetos, Doritos, Fritos- we have them all:)) when trick-or-treating?

I say kids would like to get a bag of chips, since they end up with so much candy. My husband says kids would much rather get candy. He thought I was joking when I said I was thinking of giving out bags of chips this year. He doesn't want to be known in the neighborhood as "the house that gave out chips".

So, what do you think? If I get more replies saying "yes" to the chips, my husband is buying dinner tonight. If I get more replies saying "no" to the chips, dinner is on me.:)

Yes, that is what we do also. This year, we are giving bags of Famous Amos cookies. Last year chips, year before individually wrapped cupcakes.

They get enough candy....I once read a thread where someone didn't realize it was trick or treat and gave out cans of coke (as this is what they had). They were the hit of the neighborhood.

My kids love when neighbors give out bags of chips or cookies. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I was thinking YES to chips, but in all fairness, I asked my kids. They gave a big YES too. :thumbsup2

As a kid, I would have loved to get certain types of chips. :thumbsup2 I would have sung the praises of your house for a long while (like I did with the house that gave the roll full of pennies) :lmao:

Eh, I give out individual bags of Bug Bites (graham crackers) because I think it's cute for Halloween  My fiancé isn't allowing it this year.

Just asked the 12 year old who I swear learned her colors by bags of chips....and she said, Candy!!

Just tell your DH we all said chips anyway.

kids get so much candy chips are a nice chance of pace! I love getting the little bags of doritos for their lunches!

I would have stolen DS' Sun Chips if he'd every gotten them.

DS didn't much like chocolate so something like chips would have gone over well I think.
