that the tickets are worth it for thiss....have read a little about it -sounds like it could be fun - just don't know if everyone in the party would enjoy it - only 2 kiddos & 5 adults (they won't dress up!)

BUT...I see that the park is only open for ticket holders - so if we want to do MK that day & not leave before 7 then we have to buy the ticket....

It just seems to me to be a little steep -awfully expensive just to dress up & ride the rides & gett a little candy = but maybe I'm missing something here...

PLEASE HELP COnvince me(so I can convince the others) that we should give it a try!

We did this twice last October and are doing it again this October! It is expensive but you get the park for 5 hours and the lines are so short! They only sell a certain amount of tickets. From what I have read and what we noticed, this time of year at WDW is getting more crowded so this event is really nice. Also they have a really cool parade that starts off with the headless horseman going up Main Street. My kids loved this event. The first night my 10 year old didn't dress up, the next day he wanted to go to World of Disney and get a Captain Hook costume, I was amazed. The trick or treating is a lot of fun and the whole park just feels so festive! Only you can decide if the money is worth it, to us it was. I decided a long time ago that within reason I wasn't going to think of the money I spend at Disney in terms of being worth it. For instance I would never shell out $100 for sometimes medicocre buffet food at home but at WDW and DL I don't bat an eyelash because it's more than just food. That's not to say that I don't try to be somewhat economica but if I start thinking in terms of the value of each dollar I spend, I'll go crazy! I just bought our MNSSHP tickets for the four of us plus my parents and know I would never spend that money to do some sort of Halloween event at home but I know it will be money well spent this October! Also, I saw a lot of adults having just as much fun as the kids, I know I did!

Last Oct. was my first trip back to WDW in over 12 years, and had no idea what MNSSHP was, but my friend and I decided to try it. Boy are we glad we did, it was so much fun, in fact, we're going back again this coming Oct.

Everybody's different as far as what's worth it to them to spend $$ on, but MNSSHP was definetly worth it to us, twice. We loved the extras that they have during the party, like the special parade, fireworks, storytelling, fortune tellers, trick-or-treating, late nights with a limited number of park guests, decorations, exclusive souveniers, etc. My favorite ride is HM, and nothing beats riding it multiple times during the party, in all its Halloween glory. There is even a float with the grim grinning ghosts in the parade. We wouldn't miss it when we go in Oct! Plus, I hate when MK closes early for a special event while we are there- I feel like we are missing something! :earboy2:

We went for the first time last year and are going again this year - we had such a great time - it's so festive, there's a ton to do and there were absolutely NO lines for ANY rides! We saw so much and rode so much that it was worth every penny. We did dress up and everyone had fun trick or treating - we got great candy - full size chocolate bars, M&M's, etc...by 10:30 or so they were piling the candy into bags.

Here's what worked for us -

We did a full day of EPCOT the day before MNSSHP so everyone was exhausted and then slept in a bit the next morning. We lounged around the hotel until about 3:30 when we set off for MNSSHP. They let the MNSSHP ticketholders in at about 4 and we stayed until the very end (midnight). The next day we had an early evening flight booked so we slept in a bit again and then hit downtown disney before heading home. It was perfect :)

Financially we looked at it like this - since we didn't do a park on that day with a regular pass the MNSSHP was a bargain for the 8 hours we spent in the park that evening (cheaper than what a pass would have cost us for the day) and we got to do more things than if we had during the day.

You should go :)

So, you don't have to use a 1 day pass to get in? I thought you needed a ticket, and you needed your Park Hopper, too? That seems like a better deal. I must have it confused with the old E-nights?

You go to Disney World to be Peter Pan, never grow up. The world is full of people growing old, do as much as you can to stay young, this is why people continue to go back. Be a kid again, dress-up, trick or treat, bring a bag and collect all those memories from your younger days. You only live once, and at Disney World you have a chance to be a kid again, go for it, hold nothing back, you have tommorow to start to grow old.

This was posted on the MNNSHP party thread stuck up top of this board on page 11...I thought it did a great job of describing why to go to the party so I'm gonna post it here. It was posted by: kaileetho

Last year was our first time ever to disneyworld, we weren't even going to go to disney just visit relatives but after a killer hotel find we decided to go. I visited the boards and found out the party was going on and everyone promised it would be the best fun ever. After talking about it every day for a week my husband finally relented (it was way cheeper than going in the day and if you think about getting in from 4-12 you get pretty much the same amount of fun time as during the day, since you dont wait in line half of the time like during the day, that was the kicker for my husband :teeth: , plus you don't have the sun blaring down on you the whole time) When we went at 4 we had no trouble getting in at all, you even get a free stroller rental as early as 4 for each kid when you show them your wristband. I couldn't believe how crowded the rides were at 4 but around 5 it really started thinning out, by six it was empty, they let you ride the rides everwhere clear up to six then the heard you to fantasyland. During the six to seven hour the rides at fantasyland are still pretty empty, we went on winnie the pooh, snow white and all the others without any lines at all (we were literally the only one there for snow white). By the way it was hot but the sun was starting to set so we didn't get sunburned - it was really quite nice but don't forget the bug spray, we did one night and got pretty attacked. After we did the kiddie rides we headed for the faster rides (all the mountain rides) when the park opened up at 7. We did have a two year old so one adult waited while the other took the 6 and 7 year old on the rides. They weren't doing the swap because there was no need for it. I think we went on space mountain 3 times in a row without having to wait. The worst part was walking (or running rather) from the beginning of the "line" to the end. When I told my boys as we were running that normally people have to wait in line this far back they couldn't believe it. My boys still think the best part however was the trick or treating. I wouldn't let them do it at the start of the party because I didn't want to wait in line, but around 10 there weren't any lines so I let them go as much as they wanted. We had so much candy we ended up having to throw a lot away. The best place for candy by far was the mad hatter tea party, they were just throwing it up in the air by the handful and the kids got to pick it up. :Pinkbounc Forgive me if I put a lot of side notes in here, we went back to winnie the pooh probable around 8 for my 2 year old daughter and waited in line for about 45 minutes. The kiddie rides were pretty full from about 7-9 or 10. We skipped the first parade and went to the second, it rained that night and the parade was delayed for an hour, the headless horseman didn't come out as well as a few other of the things in the parade, I am still bummed about that because that was the only night we made parades a priority. (we ended up going three nights even though we had only planned on one because it was so much darn fun) The fireworks were excellent, from posts I read I decided the best spot for fireworks was the bridge from tomorrowland. We were next to a couple that had done the party numerous times and they said that this was definately the best spot. We were next to a professional photographer who also agreed. I got some excellent shots of the fireworks with Cinderella Castle in the background with my digital camera from this spot. We watched Cinderella's surprise celebration once, it was pretty fun for the kids. The Characters were all dressed up and from what I've also heard we got to meet characters that don't come out very often. We got pictures with every character we met. There's free face painting in toontown, the transformed ds6 into a dragon face and ds7 into a skelaton pirate face. We did wait in a pretty long line for the face painting and later I learned there was also a spot in adventureland that didn't have nearly the wait. We only ate the fast food while we were there but if I had to do it again (which I hope to some day) I would definately eat at the character dinner first thing when we got there since the park was still pretty crowded at 4, then if I got hungry later grab a snack, the turkey legs are a good deal and really yummy. We took our family photos right at 7 one night and they turned out great, they arrived in the mail to our home before we did. We didn't dress up, just wore halloween shirts. This worked for us and my kids didn't feel too left out, they were having too much fun to feel left out. After talking to many different people who worked for disney I think most really don't know the ins and outs of the party. There was so much confusion whether you get in early, get a free stroller rental, can make reservations early ect... but once you get there they know what they're doing. So if you're wondering whether to go or not, I would say YES you should go, my brother in law who lives in Orlando and goes regularly says the party is definately the best time he's ever had there - he was completely amazed at how short the lines were and all the other fun activities they have for you. So take the morning easy, take a nap and party all night long - with or without your kids. (My kids would kill me if they didn't go though)

we went last year and had a great time.

1) its not like an e-ticket night. You only have to have a ticket for MNSSHP which is much cheaper than a park ticket.

2) you can enter at 4:00pm, so you really have from late afternoon until late night to enjoy the park.

3) we didn't dress-up, so you won't feel out of place if you don't

4) you could walk on most rides there were very few lines.

5) the admission cost also includes a pictures so thats nice

6) there was lots of candy and they provide the bags for you!

we spent the day resting and hanging out at the pool so it was really a neat way to spend time at the park without the heat and crowds you get during the day!

You do not need a regular admission ticket too, you can just go to the party and only use the party ticket. That is what we are doing. You can spend the morning sleeping in, go to DD and shop, catch a charecter meal, do Disney Quest or a water park instead. You can get into the MK as early as 4pm with your MNSSHP tickets! 4-12 is 8 hours, plenty of park time for one day :) It is really a great value if you think of it as a 1 day park admission. Plus with limited ticket sales you get relativly short lines inside the park too.

Just don't plan an early morning the next day!

We're going for the 1st time this year too and I just know we are going to have a super time. After reading numerous trip reports and excerpts from WDWinfo and allears...IT'S GOING TO BE SUPER! I hope you choose to go.

My family and I have special memories of going to the halloween party! The only negative was there are long lines on the more popular rides contrary to what people have said. When we first attended back in 1994, they only allowed a limited number of people in so you could practically walk on every ride but now the park is usually packed. The only way to assure low crowds is to go on a weekday or a sunday night but friday and saturday nights will be very busy. I like it better than the xmas party. The parade is wonderful...I never get tired of seeing it. Also, if you would like to have dinner in the park before the party, liberty tree tavern is very good and when dinner is over you are right there by the haunted mansion. I think they show two parades...one early and one late so we usually skip the first parade because that is the one the kids will see because they are still awake and so the lines aren't so long for the rides. It is also a good idea to get your pictures taken first thing because as the night wears on the lines get long. They also give out good candy!! The ambiance of the whole park is just fun with the music and the lights down low. You will love it! :teeth:

Be sure to check out the MNSSHP thread locked at the top of this board. It will help give you tons of great ideas and info about the party.

I for one LOVE MNSSHP and feel it's well worth the price of admission. I've done sold out Halloween night as well as the first party at the beginning of the month.

My family had the best time at this. I would do it again in a minute. The lines were really short when we went and they rode so many rides over and over. If we ever go at that time again, we are definately going to do it again!! Have fun!!

Not only do you get limited number of people to compete with for rides but they have costume contests where the winners (kids) get to ride on a float in one of the parades that night. There are two parades so there are two chances to win. The candy stops are numerous and there are locations set up all over the park to have a complimentary photo taken. You'll receive one copy for each family member by mail. Last years photos are really cute, they digitize in Mickey and some ghosts and they are 4X6 sized. You can also purchase the Limited Edition MNSSHP pins there. This is th eonly time and place to get these. WE lucked up and were able to purchase some of the previous days pins that were left over as well. It is so much fun, especially the special parade and special fireworks, plus seeing the park lit up eerily. I have photos but can't post here, email me and I'll send you some.

The trick-or-treating was my favourite part of the evening :) I haven't actually been trick-or-treating in ages, except to escort younger children around the neighbourhood. The short lines for the rides were worth the price of admission though. I also thought it was a blast to see the characters in costumes!

We (me 25, DSis 32, DMom 55, DAunt 53) LOVED it! The parade was great. We did not dress up, but we walked around and did get candy. Toward the end of the night (after the second parade), the CMs were offering US candy - we didn't even need to ask them; if we got within 10 feet of them, they'd shout out "Want some candy???" The rides were short, although we did have a loooooooooong wait (longest wait I've ever had at WDW, but we go in March/Sept/Oct) for Space Mtn for 60 minutes (posted as 10, but we had the thing to tell them when we got in line so they adjusted it after us). This was because everyone headed to Tomorrowland after the 2nd parade. Major congestion, but I had the giggles so everything was funny to me and I enjoyed the weight. We loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat. My mom and aunt's first trip, and they both listed that as one of their favorite nights.

Are you persuaded yet? ;)

My family is going this October and we cannot wait! We're all dressing up as characters from Peter Pan! I think the cost will be worth it...it's Disney! We have been to the Christmas party and it was great, so we're very excited about the MNSSHP!
