I am really not a lush, I just really hate to pay more for something than I have too..

Can someone tell the average price of cocktails onboard? I have seen the menus and the drinks of the day are $5-6. Are the rest of the drinks, similarily priced? I like the fu-fu martinis like the Appletini. I am just wondering how much I should bring with me.

Hmm, well I'm a wine/champagne drinker, don't do the fu-fu drinks, ;) but it seems like those were in the $5-$7 range depending upon whether you wanted a call liquor in there or not. :) All bar tabs have an automatic 15% gratuity added as well, just FYI.

One fu-fu to another...

There is a drink special of the day (apx $3.75) and a few opportunities for 2-for-1 drinks.

Cheers!;)

Can't you just charge the bar tab to your room and worry about it when you get home? That's what I always do at WDW. Is it the same on the ship?

You do have to charge it to your room. There is also an opportunity for tips as well. If you order the drink of the day from someone that is wandering around with them, a word of caution - there is an auto 15% gratuitity added to the bill. The first day on the Western Cruise the drink of the day was the Bahama Mama and it was like $3.50 but then you add on the 15% and it was a bit more.

Usually if I ordered a drink from a bar - like the Bahama Mama (can you tell what my fav drink was) it was like $5.40 or something strange like that.

Most of the fruity tropical drinks (Bahama Mama, Rum Runner, etc) were $4.75 plus 15% so they end up being $5.46. As someone else stated, there was always a drink of the day and that was Drinks with premium spirits (tanqueray and tonic or similar) were a bit more.

They did have drink specials - there was a martini extravaganza one night in the Promenade Lounge with $5.25 martinis. The drink of the day one day was Planters Punch for $3.50. Also, later in the afternoon at Castaway Cay the DJ was mentioning 2 for 1 drink specials. Unfortunately I was way out in the snorkel lagoon so I couldn't tak advantage of that. LOL The last day they also had a sail-away special at the Goofy Pool for 2 for 1 margaritas.

If you like the drink of the day, the price is $3.50...they were Bahama Mama, Rum Runner, Yellow Bird, etc....other drinks were $4.75. The best deals were the drinks by the pitcher. We bought pitchers of MudSlides every night. I think it was around $10, and we got about 6 drinks out of the pitcher...we split it by 3 people (the guys were having beer) and we each had 2 drinks before we had to order another pitcher.

I am not a lush, (B.D.) but maybe 2-3 drinks a night. It sounds as though the drinks are farely reasonable.

I am thinking I will just bring what I need for my Appletinis.

That whole drink by the pitcher sounds like a great idea too, can't wait!!!

Well, I just can't wait period!!!

Woo hoo! A pitcher of Mudslides...YUMM! :p Where do they have the pitchers of drinks? Which lounges?? Think I'll get some funny looks if they bring me a pitcher and I stick a straw in it??? Hehehehe Just kidding :teeth: At home I rarely drink, but Mudslides while on a cruise just sounds SOOOO good....

what is with the duty free shopping anyway, can anyone tell me about that. Are prices that much better, than when at home?

Just tell me where you will be with your straw in a pitcher and I will totally join you with my own!

Pitchers were available in Rockin Bar D. Criss was the bartender and he made awesome Mudslides....they even decorated the glasses that they brought out to go with the pitcher with chocolate syrup.

Really?? On 4 cruises I never saw pitchers of drinks! COol! Was it only in RBD????

Thanks for the info!

3/4 oz Kahlua
3/4 oz Baileys
3/4 oz Vodka

(1/2 oz Of each if served as alayered shot)

DisneyNutMary,

Thanks for that great tip! I think it needs to be added to the "best tip" thread!!!

Will they do any kind of drink in a pitcher? hmmmm....like kahluacoladas? I can dream about that one!!

As far as I know, only Rockin Bar D offers the pitchers, it is right on the menu. There were quite a few drinks offered by the pitcher, unfortunately, since we were only interested in Mudslides, I didn't pay any attention to what they were.

I am sure someone going on a cruise in the near future can check this out and post it here.

It also pays to be friendly (no wisecracks...I'm not talking about friendly ..just normal friendly) to the bartenders. I ordered a bon voyage (1/2 strawberry dac and 1/2 pina colada) and was chatting with the bartender while he made it. When he finished, he said "whoa, I made a bit too much...do you want 2 for the price of 1?"

I personally am an ESPN mug guy. 3.75 including tip. DW did take advantage of the "3.75" drink specials. I think I piad 7.95 for a bottle of absolute vodka. The rum was less and we had no trouble finding juice or pop to mix it with once back on the ship!!!
