Just noticed on the "when does school start back in the south" thread that some folks have a fall break right when I am going to Disney :scared: ..when is your fall break?..up here in NY we do not get a fall break because the kids go back to school after Labor Day.

Our "official" fall break is 10/20 and 10/21. But Wednesday 10/19 and Tuesday afternoon 10/18 are parent/teacher conference time (no school). Many parents are taking the whole week 10/17 - 10/21 off since it is only 1 and 1/2 days of school.

We will be at WDW 10/15 - 10/22.

FYI - School starts back up for us on August 16.

I'm in NY too. We actually get off the Thursday and Friday before Columbus Day-- then the Monday of Columbus Day and Tuesday right after. With the weekend it's 6 days-- which is a great time to build a vacation around. Also, we get the entire week of Thanksgiving off. So, more and more families in our area are starting to vacation then too.

Here our school district starts up Sept 6 (day after labor day) and the first break of the year is MEA (teacher convention) Oct 20-21. Then they have a week of over Thanksgiving.

I'm in Western NY & we don't get a Fall Break or the extra days around Columbus Day.....

My Niece lives in Dallas (actually Plano) and the Plano schools fall break is Oct.3-7, we are going with them the 2-8. This is and early break compared to most schools across the nation. Some do have some days off around columbus day though. Here in indianapolis most or our fall breaks are one to three weeks later.

Also I have noticed this year DW changed value and regular seasons in the fall. I used to always be value up until around thanksgiving. Now it changes back to regular about Oct 5. I would guess they are anticipating more fall break visitors?????????

In Santa Rosa cty, FL our fall break is Oct 3-7. I know of several families going to WDW at this time, including us!!!

I see another MN post. Another vote for 20 / 21 Oct. We go every year during this time. Kids don't miss to much school :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Already booked w/ another family from 15 - 24 Oct.

Can't wait for the MNSSHP & F&W Festival!

I came in today to ask this very questions, Thanks mommykds! :) We're just squaring up plans to go at the end of September into October...

It looks like it's going to be a good time to go! :p YAY! :)

Hve a great day everyone! And enjoy your fall breaks!

One of our children has Fall Break from September 29-October 10, and the other is out from October 1-17.
:cheer2:

We are in NC and we are going Oct 8-15, our fall break is in there somewhere but it is olny one day.

Our fall break is always the week of Columbus Day. But in Alabama, each school board sets it's own schedule...so everyone could have a different one. But all the systems in our area have this same week for their break :flower:

We don't have ANYTHING off between Labor Day and Thanksgiving except "Fair Day" on Oct. 21. So we are taking DS out of school and going to WDW from Oct. 14-Oct. 23.

I wish we lived in Plano! An earlier break would have put us still in Value season!! Oh, well.

So I guess we will see lots of folks from Minnesota? Anyone else have a break the week of Oct. 16-22?

I am hoping the crowds won't be too scary, but with the jump from value season to regular they must be anticipating increased crowds. Any chance that some people will be put off by the higher prices? I don't really believe that, but I can hope! :teeth:

Our fall break here in south Denver suburbs is the week of Oct. 24th, and we will be back at POR!

I go to a City University of NY college, but our days off generally follow that of public school. October I know has a few Jewish holidays that usually mean long weekends. I am looking at my school calendar right now, and it says that school is closed Oct. 4 & 5 (that would be a Tuesday and a Wednesday), October 10 (Columbus Day), and Oct. 12 and 13 (Wednesday and Thursday). The 13th is actually when I plan to go to WDW - Oct. 13-15. :) I checked a real calendar now, and Roshashana (I definitely killed that, I'm sorry!) begins at sundown on Oct. 3 (hence why I have off the 4th & 5th), and Yom Kippur begins at sundown on the 11th, I believe it said (hence why I have the 13th and 14th off). I would say that if you have children who attend public school, and if you don't celebrate these holidays, that this would be a great week to schedule a vacation, as you would have to only take you children out of school two days as opposed to an entire week. :) (I hope I was of some help!) Happy planning! :earsboy: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :earsboy: :wizard:
