Ok, when are all these new "lands" actually coming!!

Geez, what's it been three, four days since the announcements? Some folks on here sound like spoiled brat kids - "What? Only a PlayStation 4? I wanted the XBOX and Wii too! And I wanted them for my birthday last month not for Christmas!" I mean, I get it - Disney doesn't do fast construction. We've all hashed that concept to death over 7DMT and Avatarland and Rivers of Light, even MDE and FP+. But, would it be possible to just be happy that they've actually announced SOMETHING, I mean just for a week or two before we start complaining about the timeline?
A better analogy might be that we were just told we would be getting a Playstation 4 for Christmas...at some vague point in the future.

I thought some of it was coming this year. Look at the last line of this paragraph:

Star Wars Launch Bay will immerse guests in the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with “special exhibits and peeks behind-the-scenes, including opportunities to visit with new and favorite Star Wars characters, special merchandise and food offerings.” This will be located in the Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and in Tomorrowland and Disneyland. In Disneyland, it will share the area with the reimagined Super Hero HQ, where guests can partake in meet and greets with superheroes and check out the Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries exhibit. These will all be open later this year.

That's from http://www.wdwinfo.com/new/star-war...disneys-hollywood-studios-and-disneyland-park

My oldest son is doing his wish trip at the end of October, and I'm curious if anyone thinks Launch Bay might be there by then. What do you think?

Yay!

We go every year too! Can't wait to see the new things!

DTD becoming Disney Springs has been cool... Taken awhile but things are really coming together there!! :)

I am ridiculously excited about Star Wars Land, yet I know it'll be years in the making. I get that these things take time, and I know why because my father is an architect and licensed contractor. Growing up listening to his stories and working in his office clued me in to all of the problems that crop up on just one structure, let along a whole "land." But at the same time, it's hard not to be impatient about waiting for something you know is going to be amazing. Kind of like Christmas for Star Wars fans lol. My only hope is that it's done in time so that those of us who remember seeing the original movies in theaters are still young enough to enjoy it :rotfl:

Maybe, but they can't exactly add a whole new land the way Disney is doing. At best they can add another attraction to Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley, but there's really not another HP "area" to be added from the books or movies.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to "experience" the Ministry of Magic, the Weasleys' house, or Azkaban. Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley are pretty much it for "lands".

Godric's Hollow. And a third area would only make sense in a third park.

Let us not forget that "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is in the making movie-wise, so who knows what could be dreamed up to add to WWOHP based on that alone? I would love to see the Ministry of Magic or the Weasley's house thankyouvery much.

I am thrilled Disney is adding Star Wars and Toy Story but have no delusion that it will not be a loooooong time in the making. I only hope that THIS project is finally the one that makes me once again feel that Disney is king of the mountain and Universal is the wannabe...cause right now, not so sure of that. Disney hadn't created anything close to Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade in a very long time, yet I know they are quite capable. Hopefully Avatar, SW, and Toy Story restore them to their rightful place at the top of the creative food chain.

I don't think anyone expects this to be done tomorrow, but the thing is that childhood has a shelf life and some of us would like to experience these newly announced experiences with their kids when they are still children. My 5 year old may think that vacationing with the parents is great now, but might not feel that way when he is 12. Even if he does there is a big difference between watching the magic through the eyes of a child than through the eyes of a teenager. I hope Disney doesn't drag it's feet with this because I'm betting that there is nothing better than watching an 8 year old boy take the controls of the Millennium Falcon, here's hoping!

I beg to differ, there has been talk about Star war lands for years now. like previous poster mentioned that's like telling your kid he's getting a new game system 5 years from now

There's been speculation. Speculation isn't an announcement. And the comparison was meant to point out how spoiled some people sound about it all. not to lift up the timing. In fact, by making it a timing comparison it just sounds like more whining.

All of the timelines are speculation. I think those touting a 2025 opening are just doing so to stir the pot. It took 2.5 years to build up the Harry Potter area at Universal. I am not sure why some people are freaking out over a 2018 potential opening. That would actually be pretty fast in my opinion if this area is going to be as big and detailed as I would expect it to be. The difference between this build out and the Pandora area is that Disney controls all aspects of this IP which should hurry things along.

I think competition between Universal and Disney is a great thing. I think in 5 years, between the two parks, the list of attractions will be incredible. I am willing to wait a little bit to see it.

Pete thinks 2018/19. So that is what I believe. He has a lot more information, insight (through his travel business) and experience to make those guestimations. You take until 2025 Universal will have Nintendo Land, a 3rd Harry Potter Area, upgrades to the current Harry Potter area, another hotel, a brand-new water park, probably another hotel, Star Trek the experience, and numerous other rides, shows, attractions and CityWalk additions. Disney cannot wait that long.

I would be totally down for an experience within the Ministry of Magic or the Burrow or even Godric's Hollow. But then again, I'm just a HP nerd.

I am insanely excited for Star Wars land. When it's all said and done, DHS might become a 2-day park for me after that. Buh-bye Animal Kingdom. I hate Avatar and have no intention of stepping foot in Pandora when it's done, so waiting for something I actually enjoy seems like forever. But, it gives me an excuse to plan more trips.

Once Disney announces a firm date, if you think your 5 year old will be too old by then, you could always adopt a 3 or 4 year old so that they are 8 by the time the new lands are built.

well, since it will take me every last minute to save enough to go back, the suggested timelines work for me , lol. Basically I predict no less than a dozen,(and probably closer to 15) ticket price increases before the lands are finished enough to open :rolleyes1

About 150 dollars a day should cover it. Unless Disney does the unthinkable and holds or lowers ticket prices.:rotfl2:

No way any of the Star Wars main attractions open before 2020.
Toy Story/Pixar Place will open sooner because it's a lot of off the shelf kiddie rides.
Pandora has been delayed as mentioned earlier.
