Did St. Louis to Oklahoma City... 9 Hours... whic is basically almost half way if we were ever to drive from St. Louis to Orlando...

Had movies and games for DD 5yo... had Xbox and movies for DS 11yo...

We were exhausted by Joplin..:rolleyes1 Thats 4 hours... out of St. Louis..

Anyway hands down to all the drivers... :worship:

The FRids will keep taking off there shoes as they go through TSA screenings... :scared:

I agree!! I am just not a driver either. :)

I would rather spend the extra cash and fly. It saves soooo many hours and is much easier. Obviously that get difficult the more children that are in the picture. :)

Hands off to the warrior drivers!! :thumbsup2

WOW!! Thanks!! :rotfl2:

My mind was saying hats off but obviously my fingers had other ideas. :)

I don't mind long-distance driving, but DH *hates* it. Chicago is about his limit; that's 5 hours. Most of the time he won't drive anything over 3 if he can help it.

I'm not a long distance driver either. I tend to get sleepy on the road especially since I usually get reduced sleep the night before packing and what not. Heck once I had to pull over 20 minutes after leaving to take a nap. :headache: Thus I really prefer to fly!!

I am one of those that could drive all day long and it doesn't bother me. I would shake my head at posts that would say - we drove 8 hours and it ruined the first 2 days of our vacation. I could never understand what people were getting tired from - your just sitting there. LOL

But as a kid - my DF would throw us all in the car and we would go on 10 hour drives on the weekend. Leave the house at 8 am - drive around - have a picnic, drive some more and be home for dinner. I was trained from a young age to live in a car for extended periods. LOL

Back in the late 70's and 80's we were drivers.....but younger.....always drove to WDW, straight thru, 20 hours and stop on the beach the first day and stayed overnight to get the rest we missed and let the children experience the ocean.....throw in a couple of plane trips and now that I don't fly anymore.....we're train travelers....

Probable the last 15 trips have been by Amtrak....yes, it's a long trip for us, doesn't cut into our Disney time, but we relax the whole way...no more stress....we enjoy the ride, watch out the window and just have a merry old time rolling down the rails...being in an auto..being in charge and responsilble, watching the traffic and listening to car noises is not how I want to spend my travel time anymore....like I said, flying is out..period. We still have our 9-12 nights in WDW, we actually look forward to the train as a time to connect and enjoy each other without the driving arguments of yeasteryear.....
