OK, we are new ..some questions....

Just back from purchasing our DVC at SSR. My head was spinning, of course now I have questions.
1- We purchased on 5/31/07, "closing" is 7/10/07, apparently our UY is December. It states we would need to bank our 12/06 points by 5/31?

2- Since we are approaching the 11 month mark for our next trip (checkout date) do I book at SSR, then look into switching when the 7 month mark opens up? (hoping for BWV or OKW)

3- How long does it take to get our DVC member card?

Any help would be appreciated!

First off congratulations & welcome home!

1. You'll be okay. Don't worry about banking. They did the same thing with you that they did with me with SSR. I had purchased in Dec but they "backtracked" (I think that's what the called it) me to Sept UY. They banked my points for me. But to be sure just call MS & let them know or go online to be sure.

2. I ALWAYS book at the 11 month window, then change it. That's always a good thing to do, although, I don't think you'll have a problem getting OKW, BWV will be a little harder.

3. I received my card in about a month/a month and a half. It came a lot quicker than they made me think it would.

It is correct that MS will help you bank your points without being penalized for the May 31st cut off since this is the first year for you. If you're not planning a vacation BEFORE Nov. 31st 2007 checkout, you definitely want to bank the points ASAP.

I also agree to go ahead and reserve your home resort now and switch at the 7 month mark if possible. Also, if you do plan to switch, ask MS to hold the ressie at SSR until they confirm and book the other DVC resort you choose. I have read where people have lost their ressie doing this when the CM doesn't hold on to what was booked at your home resort. I suggest it only to be safe!

When you get your packet of files, you'll receive temp cards. Call MS and get your pin numbers for the website. They will mail them, but I was anxious and just called them instead. I haven't received my blue card yet, but I did check today and it's finally showing more info on my account online so I should be getting those blue cards soon. It's been about a month since I became a member.

I've called MS several times for different reasons just to follow up with my paperwork and for banking and for ressies and so on. They have been awesome with helping me!

If you are buying direct from disney you should be able to make reservations right now. Get your member id number from your guide and then call MS.
