OK, this isn't funny

I saw on the news tonight that iguana's were freezing and falling out of the tree's somehwere in Florida. I thought they said Miami but that just doesn't seem right:confused3. They also showed one that had froze in a pool but it was revived. How the heck do you revive a frozen iguana:eek:.

It has been very chilly here. This morning, there was a heavy frost.

I dropped my daughter off at the school where she is student teaching this morning. When she got out of the car, she slipped on ice on the sidewalk. Now, that's not something you see often in the Orlando area!

I'm going back to England in two weeks to visit my parents...I spoke to my mom today (they live in the middle of England, in the countryside aka the middle of nowhere) and she was saying how cold it was! I was all excited because I thought I might get to see snow for the first time in four years!

Then I heard on the news that it's supposed to snow here in FLORIDA tomorrow night!!! Are you kidding me???!!! Now I LOVE the cold weather, but Florida just isn't prepared to deal with it - I feel bad for all the frozen iguanas!

Yeah, not feeling much sympathy here either, as it is currently 3 degrees Fahrenheit here, according to one of our local news station's website. I finally went outside today, after 5 days, and the snow in our front yard goes halfway up my calf. Didn't venture into the back yard, but the only thing you can see out there is the swingset and the top half of DDs scooter, which is probably ruined now because DH won't go back there ans bring it in. Looks like we will be buying a new one this spring!

Day three of the big freeze and I am seriously narked off. The snow is STILL a foot deep, it's still well below zero, there's a chilly wind, massive stalactites and stalagmites and even our dog, a West Highland White, a dog BRED for freezing winter, is refusing to go outside.

Don't blame him, really.

We have a little Bichon Frise and when it is very cold, like now, or when the snow is deep, like now , he won't leave the doorway to go do his business. I have to lug on my Sorels, put him on a leash and go stand with him in the yard, gently pleading "Go Potty -- Go Potty" - with my teeth chattering.

If I don't, he'll sneak around the house until he thinks I'm not looking and try to lift his leg in a corner because it's warm in the house. I have to admit, I would be very excited about dropping my trousers when it is -7, but I guess that is what separates man from the animals. They will do the common sense thing whilst we put ourselves through hell to make them do the right thing...

It's just more proof of global warming! ;)

I'd invite you to visit us in Florida, but we aren't even having nice weather. Although, our cold spell is nothing compared to what you are experiencing. Just think how nice spring will seem. It's just around the corner! Stay in and stay warm!

I live in the middle of America and we re in a deep freeze here. Today is the third straight day that scholls have been closed. It is currently -6F with a wind chill of -30F. Tomorrow morning the temp is supposed to be -23F, the record is -24F. Just saw on the news that Orlando is supossed to be down to 27F Sunday.

We have got a Westie & we can't keep him in, he loves the snow even at the grand age of 15. We have about 5 inches of snow, before Christmas we had close to 10 inches

My son just went to London for a study abroad program. He called me and told me it was snowing. Luckily we're from New England so he packed lots of warm clothes, but he wasn't expecting it to be that cold and he didn't want to see snow at all!! Poor kid. I had to laugh though as he was teasing us about how he would be snow-free this winter. If anyone reads this from London, could you tell me what they are expecting for the next few weeks if that is possible. And what is the weather usually like at this time of year. We were under the impression that it wouldn't get THAT cold. I miss him terribly (totally feel apart at the airport) and I worry about his being cold. You all know, it's the Mom, or should I say Mum thing, although he calls me Mim!!!

Sending warm thought to all!!!

They're not dead or even "freezing" exactly. They just go into hibernation when the temps drop below a certain number. So they'd just need to warm the little guys up.

I can't believe how things grind to a halt just because of a little snow. I don't think we have ever had a winter here that didn't have a couple of days below 0 and we get plenty of snow. You just plow the roads, shovel the drive, and get on with life. Heck, even if you don't have plows if you only have 2 or 3 inches it isn't really that hard to drive in.

Hi DisneyMim. We are in Kent, in the South East of the UK. The forecast for the next week is not good, it is currently snowing, and more is expected over the weekend.

The temps for the weekend in Central London are min -3c max 2c.

This is our worst winter in over 20 years, it was -22.3c (-8.1f) in the Scottish Highlands last night!!! Lowest recorded was -27c. We do see snow in the SouthEast but not this much and not for this long! And as such do not deal with it very well!!!

Hope he is enjoying his study program!!!:)

Have you not been paying any attention??? When it is unusually cold, that is just the weather and it doesn't have anything to do with global warming (which is supposed to be called Climate Change during the winter). This rule doesn't apply when it is hot, we have a hurricane, or any bad weather other than extreme cold occurs.

I saw that too! They said they are able to have their hearts still beat but their bodies shut down so they stay alive.

It is about 20F here. We have a few inches of snow.

It isn't so nice here either. Have been in bed sick so I have not had to venture outside.
