With the news about POP not getting KTTW cards going forward, and I suspect with the rest of the resorts to follow, and quickly, it's time for Disney to drop this "testing" facade. They might have got away with the testing schtick when they were still allowing "testers" to access FP-. Now? Enough.

Let's just call it the rollout and be done with it. Put out the rules, put out some dates so people can plan and know what to expect. Stop hiding behind this testing line like a bunch of cowards. Testing is over.

(All of the above is just my very humble opinion of course feel free to disagree ;))

I haven't seen that, so are you saying they are not giving KTTW cards even if you request them?

Well in my opinion hopefully this means it's going faster. It'll be nice to finally get to the end result so we all know exactly what we are dealing with.

It feels like the band-aid being peeled off slowly.

Even Mickey looks unsure at this point. ;)

Oh God, best of luck then. I feel bad for the people who won't even see THIS information when they check in.

OMG, that's funny.

If they pulled the band-aid off faster, people would complain about that too, I think. What if they announced that all resorts would no longer be getting KTTW cards? No opting out. No more regular FP.

STick around...it's coming...soon, I think...and with very little warning from Disney.

Being A person who does testing for products, I would say Disney needs a significant amount more time to continue testing. They need to try to cover every possible scenario. It needs to work with limited amount of flaws before they officially roll out, from reading a lot of these threads on this board, it seems they are not even close. Not including the Swan and Dolphin, they haven't even tested non-Resort guests.

I think that that would be preferable to what they are doing. Right now some FPP guests are being told, "go ahead, use your KTTW card to get FPs!" while others are being scolded by CMs when they try to do that, like they are behaving unethically. (Not to mention the flame-athon on here on that issue.) People are trying to plan for one type of vacation (rope drop plus FPs plus afternoon FPPs) and then hearing all sorts of rumors that this or that is going to happen that is going to mess up their planning. All the waffling on the new rules and the uncertainty about what the intentions are for the FPP program isn't helping make adjusting to the new changes easier-- it's making it a bigger PITA.

I feel bad for people with all of this uncertainty. I know lots of people think there are more than just the attractions, but people should be allowed equal access. I think they should roll it all at once and just eliminate the FP in the park. Open it up to off site and AP/locals and call it a day. It is just bad business IMO that they are keeping it on the down low so people don't cancel(which is a theory posted on the other thread I agree with). They make so much money, but don't respect families that may have saved for their one time trip and possibly have no idea what they are walking in to. If the system is so great. Stand behind it, promote it, love it otherwise why should the guests feel anything but uncertainty on their upcoming trip. I'm not taking my toys from the sandbox and going home, but I will be bringing a lot less toys in the future if WDW continues to treat their guest with this lack of respect. I really do feel bad with those who have upcoming trips in the next 6 months until the dust really settles and rules keep changing every few days.

See I don't think they can do this. They don't know what the final rules will be- that's why they're still calling it testing- just a couple weeks ago we had the EPCOT changes. They probably prefer to call it 'testing' so when things change they can tell guests that nothing was set in stone.

I agree with this. I don't think they have any reasonable idea how many people will actually book in advance and how many FPs might be available in the park each day. They won't know until they play around with rationing availability and see what happens.

It seems like they won't know that until they start their marketing campaign, open it up to AP holders, and off site guests. We have been waiting for a year now to see all that come into play. I can't wait to see all this play out. I hope we get a full dose before New Years, otherwise we have to wait for spring break for a real test.

Which will be the lucky resort to test right before Christmas?

I can't help but feel bad for those people. How many kids will get their fabulous Magic Bands from Santa early....and then get there and feel like they shouldn't have trusted a guy named Billy Bob?

This will probably be like the parents who fret about getting their kid this year's hot toy, and then the kid ends up playing with the box or some other simple gift.

The kids are just going to be excited about going to WDW and are going to be oblivious to how many FPs their parents can run down.

I remember seeing somewhere that someone did a survey asking kids what they liked best about their Disney trips, and a lot of them cited the hotel swimming pool (the one the parents wouldn't let them enjoy because they were on commando tours).

You can call it a test, a rollout, a phased implementation, a temporary program, a transition, or whatever you want. To me, that is all semantics.

I just think what Disney is going through now is an essential part of putting the whole MyMagic+ (not just FP+) system into full effect. First, they have to test the mechanics of the system to see how it performs. With respect to FP+, they have to test guest behavior before making decisions about the details of the program, such as how many FP+ reservations everyone should get, whether to limit reservations for headliner attractions at some parks, how many reservations to allow per hour, etc. They have to be using the test to see how many guests actually make advance reservations, which attractions they choose, whether they tend to make reservations early or late, whether they make same day changes, and how many of the reservations go unused, etc.

I suppose Disney could announce parameters now, but they would all be subject to change anyway if actual usage proves that they must change. I don't think guests would be any happier with that than they are with the transition that is going on now.

The decision to try giving guests MB only with no backup cards tells me that they are satisfied that the number of problems people are experiencing with the bands are manageable. So, now they are gradually beginning the process of weaning guests from using cards at all.

I do sympathize with people who feel like their ability to enjoy their vacations are being adversely affected by this transition. Just like I sympathized with people whose only Disney trip came during the height of the Fantasyland construction and they had to look at a lot of construction walls. But, in my opinion, a transition like this is necessary to implement some new technology that I think will make guest experiences better. We experienced some of that improvement on our brief visit last week, and that makes me more confident that we, and the majority of other guests, will like the end product if we are patient enough to let the process play out.

I see what you're doing. You are trying to put a positive spin on this.;) It doesn't really work in this thread.

"The kids are just going to be excited about going to WDW and are going to be oblivious to how many FPs their parents can run down."

Tell that to the kids who are used to touring and riding the way they are accustomed to when they go to Disney. I think they were called spoiled brats on a thread or two. Or was that the parents who were called spoiled brats? Either way, the parents will be the one answering to it.:)

The bottom line is Disney did a *** poor job of making this information available to the general public, let alone the people checking in in two days that they knew were going to be affected. Do you think it will be any different for the ones checking in the week before Xmas and they decide that this resort will be then next "test"? Not only will they get no notice (even though they are paying premium pricing during this timeframe), they will just be expected to "suck it up". These people are going to get screwed. They should have at least been offered their vacation at non-premium pricing.

Like I said...
