I have a 2 hour commute in the evenings, a 4 hour total commute every day. Anyways, after being on the train for an hour I usually have to visit the mens room. Well, I usually pull out of the parking lot and drive to a visitor's center just off the highway that has a McDonald in it. I do my business and proceed to the counter to get a milkshake. Well, last night when I walked up to the counter the guy working behind the counter already had my milkshake waiting for me. :sad2: Sad isn't it? And then this morning I walk into Boloco, formerly the Wrap, to get my breakfast burrito and the lady behind the counter had it waiting for me. :sad2: :sad2: You know you've been going to the same place long enough that your order is waiting for you when you get there. I need a life.

Ya know, being a "regular" sounds kinda sweet to me. Isn't it nice that they are taking care of you?

But what would they ever do if you changed your order?

LOL!

When I used to work at Taco Bell in my teens...I got to know the "coporate guys" pretty well over the summer...they would come in and order the SAME THING every day. I would BEG them to try something different! heheh

This is the nice part. It is nice that the they know me and are taking care of me, but I can't help but feel I need a life.

:lmao: :lmao: I did that once at Boloco...it really threw them for a loop. They had no idea what to do. They looked at each other like I had two heads. :lmao: I walked out of the store and laughed my head off. That was so funny.

I've done the same thing for breakfast - ordered the same thing day after day because I liked it and that's what I wanted. (Of course, in our small town there aren't a lot of places to eat anyway.) I walked in awhile back and started to order something different, and they looked at me funny and said, "But we've already got your order ready..." I thanked them and just took it as they had it.

I've wondered a time or two what they're thinking since I've gone on a diet and am eating cereal at home now. They must wonder where I am... :yay:

At our favorite Mexican food place here, they bring you the chips and salsa the minute you sit down. However, if it's one of the older waiters, they also immediately bring our drinks without our ordering!:) It's so nice to be a regular.....;) They even have our food choices memorized. :rotfl2:

Oh Bless! when I was married we frequented a local restaurant so often, they'd see coming and shout to the kitchen 'two chargrilled meats, one plaice with prawn sauce, spinach on the side, one medium rare steak' we never had the guts to change the order.

Ok, I see that as being connected to your community, not stuck in a rut.

I love when I go somewhere and they know me! When I took the girls to get their picture taken with Santa this year at the mall, he asked me if I got the digital camera I wanted last year-I about fell OVER! We've been going to the same santa for 7 years now, and it's nice that he remembers us.

So much of our society now, we're all a bunch of strangers living elbow to elbow.

I think it's nice that they like you enough to make your drink for you, and look forward to seeing you-because otherwise they wouldn't bother making you one, I think :)

WE go to a BBQ restaurant every Saturday and our drinks arrive at the table sometimes before we get to our seats. My husband gets the same thing to eat but I like variety so they already know what he will order but ask for mine. Waitress will ask my husband if there are any changes

oh - one time, I stopped at the Dunkin' Donuts around the corner from my house on the way to work. (I usually make my own coffee and bring it in each morning...but I either ran out of coffe or forgot to set the machine up the night before)

The women working the counter had everyone's coffee ready for them by the time they walked up to the counter w/o anyone actually ordering. when it was my turn...the woman looks at me and says "Uhh...you're new...I don't know your order"

it was like I threw off the whole store! heheheh

I love how Domino's Pizza has their computer system that does caller id and also records your order. I can call them and just say "Same as last time" and hang up and they'll know who I am, where I live and what I want to eat. I don't actually do that, of course, but it would work if I did.

Two hours each way!!! :faint:

Here in Iowa City, we consider a long commute anything longer than 15 minutes.

Yea, it sucks sometimes. I don't mind it so much in the mornings, it's the evenings is when it gets old. You see, I work in Boston, but live on Cape Cod, which is about 60 + miles to my house from Boston. A friend of mine works in Boston, but lives in Providence, R.I., and his commute is shorter than mine! We both have the same hour train ride, but he lives closer to the train station than I do.

I'm not feeling so bad now. Thanks everyone. Oh, I forgot, my wife and I get together with friends for breakfast on Saturday mornings and I usually order the same thing. Now when I walk in the waitress is already getting me my drink and she knows what I want for breakfast.
