I have to admit the buy 4 get 3 nights free offer is pretty tempting...

What's everyone thinking about this :confused3

You should read the discussions over on the Code/Rates board, some people love it (most people) some are saying it isn't that great. I think it's good, but doesn't really work if you already have tickets. I'm hoping for a good room only rate or that it will spur other deals (like at Swan & Dolphin) Some people are griping because they can't stay 7 nights, ect, ect, I think you have to sit down and work it out and see what you think for your family. I would do it myself if we hadn't just gone in October to be honest, my next trip is solo though and I already have my park ticket, so doesn't do me any good right now.

I would definatley take the plunge, but, the dates aren't really great. We could only go when the kids are out of school, and the airfare is sky high.
I'm not TOO upset as we're going for a few days before we go on the cruise in May, otherwise I would have figured some way to book this deal

This is a good offer, but in the end it's really an AP discount that is being offered early for the first 6 months of 2009.

- The room discount over 7 days = approx 40% (a little better than a typical AP discount)
- Since the most expensive part of a Disney ticket is the first 4 days getting the next 3 days free is insignificant = approx $15 savings.
- The $200 kicker is a nice add-on to the promotion if you can go the first 3 months of 2009.

All-in-all it's not that bad a deal, but I wouldn't call it spectacular.

Another thing that's nice about it is if you get the tickets with the sole intention of upgrading them to APs you can pay for a 4 day MYW w/no expiration which is $289.95 (with tax) but it's value towards an upgrade or AP renewal would be $367.58...combine that with the DVC discount on an AP and it's a pretty good deal.

I was able to apply it to our existing reservation and saved over $1700. I woke up this morning owing Disney $1580 on my trip and now Disney owes me $156. It was awesome for us!

Andrea I checked the airfare too and the flights out of NY are OUTRAGEOUS for President's week. :sad2:

Sorry, I must be missing something obvious. I thought that the difference between 4 and 7 day tickets was about $9. Isn't the value of this deal the three extra hotel nights?

ETA: The something obvious is "w/no expiration." Does the 4/3 deal include no expiration tickets? If you upgrade a regular ticket to no expiration, wouldn't you have to pay the difference based on 7 days?

I know, I tried all different kinds of scenarios, but, it just is way to high, I would take them out of school for a few days, but, 5 days or more is just too much
Maybe they'll come out w/something else that you guys can take advantage of :thumbsup2

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! That is really AWESOME!

No...you would pay for no expiration on 4-days ($50) but would actually get no expiration for the whole 7 days...which is a $110 value.

It was a pretty good deal for me. I am already holding a 5 day non expiring ticket, so I didnt need that, but my DD (19) doesn't. I booked 6 nights at POP with a 1 day base ticket. That came in at around $530. I'll use the $200 gift card towards buying her park tickets.

I had a ressie for first week in Feb at POR and called up and saved about $358.00. Then I called back to try for an upgrade to WL and the CM didn't quote the new rate correct so I thought it would be less, I had him book it and then he told me I would owe them around $600 more. I couldn't do that so I had him put us back at POR and for some strange reason the second time around the discount came out even less. So instead of owing Disney 108.00 after the discount at POR, I now owed them $54.00. Not complain' of course but Disney Math sure is a strange and unknown universe.

I just asked for a quote from Dreams Unlimited Travel. I had hoped to go in January, but we didn't book as we are trying to pay off debt. But, if we can get it cheap enough, I might be able to talk my boyfriend back into it. We'll see.

I've run all sorts of numbers and scenarios and it's killing me but I don't think we're going to be able to do it. But before you feel too sorry for us, DH and I spent 4 days in the World in October and we're taking the kids to the Land in 2 weeks. Oh, and there's that little cruise thingie we're doing in May.

Trying to work around school is makingthe flights too high. Plus we are leaving in 10 days :cool1: :thumbsup2 so to start to pay for another trip now with this one, and xmas so close... the timing just isn't good. But if we go back, May would be the norm next trip, so I am afraid I will be sorry if I don't go for it. It really is proving to be a pain in the ... for me

The biggest part of the problem of these dates is that it is prime school time. They excluded the dates when kids would most likely be out of school. Some people may take their kids out of school in January or February, but that's the time period where they've either just had Winter break or are only a matter of weeks away from Spring break. Taking your kids out of school for 5 days is a hard bullet to bite at that time of year. :confused3

We could do the end of March as that's when our kids get out for spring break...but there's just a few resorts left to choose from and we aren't interested in what's available. I guess I'll just keep checking to see if they increase inventory over the next couple of weeks.

Completely, completely agree.

I think the people who are over-the-moon about this offer are those who typically pay rack rate. I never do, even before I got an AP.

When you have people calculating so-called "savings" based on paying rack rates, of course the savings will look great - LOL!
