I would definatley take the plunge, but, the dates aren't really great. We could only go when the kids are out of school, and the airfare is sky high.
Another thing that's nice about it is if you get the tickets with the sole intention of upgrading them to APs you can pay for a 4 day MYW w/no expiration which is $289.95 (with tax) but it's value towards an upgrade or AP renewal would be $367.58...combine that with the DVC discount on an AP and it's a pretty good deal.
Andrea I checked the airfare too and the flights out of NY are OUTRAGEOUS for President's week.![]()
I was able to apply it to our existing reservation and saved over $1700. I woke up this morning owing Disney $1580 on my trip and now Disney owes me $156. It was awesome for us!
Sorry, I must be missing something obvious. I thought that the difference between 4 and 7 day tickets was about $9. Isn't the value of this deal the three extra hotel nights?
ETA: The something obvious is "w/no expiration." Does the 4/3 deal include no expiration tickets? If you upgrade a regular ticket to no expiration, wouldn't you have to pay the difference based on 7 days?
The biggest part of the problem of these dates is that it is prime school time. They excluded the dates when kids would most likely be out of school. Some people may take their kids out of school in January or February, but that's the time period where they've either just had Winter break or are only a matter of weeks away from Spring break. Taking your kids out of school for 5 days is a hard bullet to bite at that time of year.![]()
This is a good offer, but in the end it's really an AP discount that is being offered early for the first 6 months of 2009.
- The room discount over 7 days = approx 40% (a little better than a typical AP discount)
- Since the most expensive part of a Disney ticket is the first 4 days getting the next 3 days free is insignificant = approx $15 savings.
- The $200 kicker is a nice add-on to the promotion if you can go the first 3 months of 2009.
All-in-all it's not that bad a deal, but I wouldn't call it spectacular.
