OK...so where is the next DVC going to be??

Sorry I couldn't resist. I think the latest rumor is the River Country property off of Bay Lake between Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness. There have been threads about this development. Here's a couple of links:

The Ft Wilderness Campers thread talks about it. The posters believe that some of the buildings at Ft. Wilderness are being moved to make more room for a new DVC resort. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2583303

I especially like this post in which Shan-man shows how the resort would be laid out based on Drawings that were filed prematurely on some official website. I can't remember the details, but the plans were removed after all of the discussion started.

Villas at the Polynesian - doesn't that have a nice ring to it. We are holding out on adding on to see if someday they might do DVC there.

Still hoping for some off site DVC resorts. Disney has purchased land at the National Harbor resort near DC for a hotel. This is a planned development with views across the Potomac. The Disney property is adjacent to the future National Children's Museum. Wyndham has a timeshare there and Gaylord has a beautiful resort hotel at the location. There are some negatives for the location, but nothing Disney could not overcome in my opinion -- especially if done in conjunction with Adventures by Disney and some sort of indoor/outdoor water park.

My wish list would include a resort near Williamsburg, but that area is saturated with timeshares.

:thumbsup2 I would love :lovestruc a Williamsburg resort! I would also like to see Disney resurrect the Disney's America project for Williamsburg, but I get the feeling that Disney is not very interested in building new Amusement Parks in the USA. Too much capital investment.

Here are my odds of breaking ground first

FW/WL project 60%
Washington 20%
California resort (Across the main road from DHS) 10%
Poly/GF 5%
Others 5%

If the financials were not looking so poor I would have had Inner Harbor higher.

I think you're right, but I agree. It would be great to have a Disney Park in the Mid Atlantic region.

I agree, but would love to see that idea brought back to life. Or maybe at Tahoe..as they had asked in a poll at one time..Bring back that Mineral King ski lodge idea with DVC rooms.
BTW, I was at American Airlines yesterday looking at vacation costs for the Mexico AI DH wants to do, and what should come up on the vacation page but an ad for Aulani hotel rooms...

What about taking down the other Contemporary wing and building BLT2? No good views? Not enough room?

With how well and how fast BLT has been selling I would think that another monorail line resort is what they really want to build.

That being said, if another monorail resort is built, how in the heck can the monorail handle all the guests? It's already stuggling as it is.

Wasn't there a rumor that when In-bev bought Anhauser (sp)Bush that they weren't all that interested in running theme parks and might sell off the Busch Gardens parks? :confused3 That would give Disney a spot to do American Adventure and have a decent baseline to start with (ride wise). :thumbsup2

In-bev did sell off the parks. Would have been nice.

Too much utilization of those rooms, especially by convention goers, for Disney to give them up.

I would love to see a Poly DVC, we would add on if that was built. I would like to see one in New England.

I'm not sure what Screamscape's past record has been, but they posted the following today...

2013/2014 - New Disney DVC Resort Hotel - Rumor - (2/14/11) According to one of our readers, new survey markers were spotted in the Fort Wilderness area along the “nature trails near the marina” and near the Settlement Trading Post. Could this be more signs of forward traction on that proposed new DVC Resort?
