First let me say thank you to the few posters who took the time to read and comment on my pre-final post. I appreciate the encouragement. At that point I was on the fence with 2 lbs. and it seemed like it was taking forever. I felt at the time that my weight loss was pretty much over, and so the decision to stop posting on a weekly basis seemed pretty moot.
That was about two months ago, and in coming back for my final post here on the WISH, it certainly has been some journey. Initially weight loss, then it became so much more. I felt that it helped me (and from what others have shared) that being honest about the struggles and the way it REALLY was made a difference. It's not something I feel like I can put in words, so I will just leave it at that.

Since that time that I signed off, some things happened:
We went on our annual family vacation. About 4 posts into my journal, I stated my goal was to fit into a size large baseball jersey. Well, to my delight, that became a size medium, and the following link is a lifelong/childhood dream to see the Sox play at fenway:

During that vacation we climbed that mountain I described as well. It took 6 hours up and back, but we did it. And my wife and I both lost weight that day (imagine that).
I went and saw my childhood home, and also went to see my best friends parents. His dad was home, and I gave him my 13th year anniversary chip:
the courage to change...

I finished the spring TMBRA series and placed 11th overall. Without paydirt, I would have gotten 7th in state. The last race I placed 4th. Fall is looking good since those top 3 guys have to cat up to sport.

Becoming aware of the emotional changes in me, I took action and started talking to a professional. It's been baby steps, but I believe I am making progress...

And to finish, this past saturday, after running a 5k race early we went in to the 930am meeting at WW. After weighing, the lady told me I did it: I became the newest lifetime member. New card, new little folder etc.; after discussing it with my wife we realized in 16 months we've seen two people make lifetime, so I felt a little like it was the holy grail...

But coming back down now, sitting in the office, looking out the window at the sunny hot Texas weather...

Going to ride my bike this afternoon with my son and wife.

And so now that is how I will finish, pedaling off into the afternoon...

Thank you,

Fred
