How do you know?

Experience. ;)

No, seriously, when you pay attention, it's easy to pick out people from their writing styles and details. :) I believe this is the fourth or fifth name the OP has had.

Pick up a toaster for $5 at Wal Mart, and pack it in your luggage. You can toast bagels and english muffins in your room (bring in your luggage). Make sure you unplug before you leave the hotel. I do this every time. I never know what happens to that toaster after we leave.

The taxi rides you speak of could become expensive. Look into getting a rental car, but don't forget about filling it with gas before you return it.

Sounds like the Nick hotel could be expensive, can you stay at a Disney Value resort?

I hope things work out for you.

OP the character breakfast was not worth it. You can see almost all the characters out at the meet and greet. The 3d movies aren't worth it IMHO. There is so much to see and do at Nick hotel already. If it's something of a must I would buy the unlimited pass.

They have a small mini market inside the mall. It's a little pricey but they have all you would need. The food court isn't all that badly priced. They have a Barnies coffee place that has donuts and breakfast items. A Subway that isn't much more than a normal Subway at home. I want to say that a footlong was 6.00 some were maybe 7.00. Not to bad. They also have a burger and fries place. Not sure of their prices. Also a pizza place where they have a family meal deal of a pizza, breadsticks, and a 2 liter of soda. Not 100% sure but it was about 25.00 at the most.

I agree with others about Garden Grocer or you could take a taxi to Publix. There is one within a mile or two. If you didn't want to shop when there I would bring some food from home. It's not worth having a full kitchen unless you're going to use it. If the kids balk then too bad. I'd tell them we could stay home or they could pay for their meals. You could also shorten your stay there and stay closer to WDW for a night or two. I would also look into renting a car. It would save you a shuttle to/from the airport and from Disney. It's quite a ways from Nick to MK it could be very pricey.

Whatever you do I hope you and the kids have a good time.

Mad4eeyore brings up another good point, OP. How are you getting from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport?

That would be an additional expense.

Oh, okay. Good point. Thank you.:)

I think the one of the worst posters is the woman that was trying to scam Citi Bank by not paying half of her $14k balance, yet is planning a trip to WDW! Guess what "WE" all pay for it! That's what makes me cringe, we pay for all the thieves.

she has a full kitchen.. she doesn't need a toaster.. she needs money for food!

Yep, this one was easy to spot.

I don't get why people get so worked up about other people's financial decisions...... If she chooses to go on a tight budget she has her reasons.
:confused3

Can it be done on $300??? Most likely. Share meals. Focus on the fun not the food. Make it an adventure and do what you love!

I only read until things got nasty, but I think that $300 for food is definitely doable for 1 adult and 2 kids for 3 days, especially if you skip the character breakfast and share the huge Disney meals. It sounds like taxis might break your budget and others had the good idea of checking out renting a car, which would also allow you to eat fast food outside of the park.

My concern is that you don't have a CC just for any emergency that might occur. You never know if a child might get sick or injured or any number of things that can cost money that you don't have in your bank account. Is it too late for you to apply for an emergency card? It wouldn't matter if your rate is high as long as you hold it ONLY for an emergency situation.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but have you checked into Lynx bus transportation? www.golynx.com. I think they pick up at Magic Kingdom Transportation area but I'm not sure how close they will take you to Nick Hotel. Looks like, on their website it would only cost $2 per person and I think the busses run every 30 minutes or so. This would me MUCH cheaper than a cab.

Good luck!

I think the problem is, if she's worrying about $300 to last the entire trip...does she not have money to use at home? Meaning is this ALL of the money that she has? :confused3

Wow!!! Judgemental much ?:confused3 Some of you are very nasty and accusing me of being other posters ? Seriously?

Yes I took other vacations this year and they were not budget vacations. This trip Iisa budget vacation . I booked the trip knowing i'd be on a tight budget . I just did not think it would be this tight. I did not budget correctly at all and that is my fault. I usually bring too much money on vacation and this trip I did not think I would be coming so far under budget. I am not visiting the Disney parks . The Nick Hotel IS the vacation. Last month I decided I couldn't go to Florida without going to Disney so I purchased the MNSSHP . It's alot cheaper than a regular park day .

I thought $300 -$400 would be reasonable for three nights 4 days .I took all of my "emergency" money and paid bills (student loan ,credit card debt etc). It's not like I can get that money back so to everyone who gave me useful advice thank you. I will try to manage as best as I can and im sure the kids will have a good time without all the extras.

I'm not taking a taxi from the airport to Nick I bought mears shuttle tickets months ago so that's covered. The only taxi not covered is MK to Nick because Nick shuttle does not operate during the party hours. A rental car was WAY more expensive than the shuttle/taxi . I got outrageous quotes at several companies. It was not worth it.

That's a big assumption and you would be wrong . I do technically have more money but that is money that I don't want to touch . I set a budget and I absolutely stick to it. I just did not budget correctly for this trip.

Well, I may have assumed that you only had $300 in all of the world, but this statement that you said and that I bolded definitely makes it sound that way. This is not me being mean or nasty, but if you used all of your emergency money to either pay your bills or to take on vacation, you shouldn't be taking a vacation. JMO.

She's got CC debt but has still gone to WDW 3 or 4 times this year. She doesn't get it.:sad2:

Yes I have debt. Who doesn't? :confused3 I still pay my debt off every month. I booked this quick budget trip as a reward for getting my a.a degree . I really wish people would stick to the topic and not jump down my throat because I under budgeted. I'm not the first and I'm sure I won't be the last person to go on vacation on a budget .

HersheyKisses-

Why would you pay off your debt though, from your emergency fund? I guess that's what people are concerned about. You are going into an "emergency" fund to pay your cc's. What would you do if you had a real emergency? I'm trying to wrap my head around this....that's all. Thank you. Brunette

I think the issue is a "realistic" budget. There are tons of ways to save money on a disney vacation but the bottom line for me is to be realistic.

Any time you go on vacation and have to "worry" about running out of money, that could be a clear indication that realistic planning did not take place.

I live on a budget and I vacation on a budget but some times I have to face the truth and say maybe the budget doesnt allow for me to do every thing I want.

$90 dollars is causing a big problem, you're thinking of shipping all your meals down in order to try and save some money, and you're stressing over the very real possibility that you will not have enough money. what happens is one of the kids wants a toll house cookie sandwich? What happens if you're luggage gets lost?

Exactly how is this relaxing?

Based on the info available, I think you can do it.
(save big $ by drinking free ice-water when it's available!). If you'll be able to make a grocery stop, sandwich makings are reasonably priced and you can refrigerate your items for another meal.
Also, packing liquids in checked luggage is asking for trouble...(think WET valuables!)
I truly hope you succeed.
The BIGGEST concern I have is the lack of "emergency" funds while on vacation. We too set a budget for our trips, but I'm always gonna be carrying an extra 1k and a coupla credit cards as "backups". I'm thrilled for y'all that you've been so fortunate to make the previous trips. I'd love to go even twice a year, but work and family commitments have ruled that out for the time being.
