Ok, My Pictures are back - Glamour Shots

:rotfl2: :rotfl: Yes, I agree! I did it about 10 years ago and I too looked like a hooker. It was way too much makeup and of course there was some serious big hair still going on in 94 so it looked terrible, lol.

I also had it done about 10 years ago.
Hooker look here too but man it sure made me feel good.

I showed my pictures to my Grandmother and she was like "Who is that". She didn't have a clue it was me. :rotfl:

:rotfl2:
Oh my Word you should have seen how big they made my hair. I was walking thru the mall after having it done and you could hear people "wow look at her hair - Wow that is a lot of hair". :rotfl: :rotfl:

Your pictures turned out very nice. They look natural.
You don't look fake or made-up.

Ok, I have to chime in here.

I'm a retired model (Ford Model, cover of Cosmo, in SI Swimsuit edition-qualified to opine here), and the makeup artists and photographers they're using at Glamor Shots are, well, um, the bottom of the barrel.

You can go to a "real" local photographer, who will hook you up with a "real" makeup artist for about the same price as glamour shots, and you'll have a photographer who can look at the planes of your face and see where you're beautiful and where you're not (everyone has good and bad angles), he'll (or she'll) light you properly (incredibly important!!!), and the makeup artist will know what the hell they're doing!

In every one of the shots you guys posted, a real photographer would have made you look better. The lighting was flat and all wrong; they're not airbrushing you, they're using a special lens filter to fog out the lines, and if you use cheap lens filters, like gs does, you're going to get that weird blurry effect.

I can tell you that what I look like in real life with no makeup on would scare you at the grocery store, and what the makeup artists and photographers can do when they know what they're doing is FANTASTIC.

Has anyone watched America's Next Top Model? Man, those girls are not beautiful, but the photographers and makeup artists make them look stunning.

Here's what you do: look up a modeling agency in your local yellow pages, find one that doesn't have an ad, just a listing (because they're the real ones), and say, can you recommend a photographer to me that can do a nice head shot. They'll give you a couple of names and numbers, call them and tell them what you want and how much you have to spend (always negotiate this up front) and see if they'll work with you. They know the good makeup artists, they'll be happy to set it up and show you their book so you can see what type of photography they do.

So then, ten, twenty years down the road, you'll have a photograph that'll be a family heirloom instead of a family embarrassment. It's worth the effort, and as a hobby photographer and an ex-model I can tell you a great picture is just a wonderful thing to have and look back on.

Lemme update a little since my browser wasn't letting me look at your photos until now for some reason...

You look very good in them, but I think it's more you than anything GS was doing. I think you could look amazing with a real photographer-who wouldn't have let the soles of your feet show in a photo and would have made sure not to shoot you with your shoulder crunched up against your neck.

But they're not bad-but I think that's because of you, not them.

Those are really good! They look like any other studio photos. No big hair and the makeup is very natural.

Those are so nice!!! They've really improved since the early 90's:)

GS has definately changed for the better1 They are cute, as an avid photogrpaher I can see wherer they made their mistakes in angles and such but the pictures are nice. your DH will like them!

I think the first one would be great for your husband's desk!!!

The others are very nice too.

Maggie

Thanks everyone, I think I am going to let him pick which one he want for his desk, I am going to frame them all. (It will make it look better under the tree with more presents! LOL

I think they turned out nice. After this investment, I am not going to find a professional photographer soon. But maybe when I turn 50! Not too far away, since I will 42 in January.

I asked them not to touch them up. I wanted a photo that looked like me. I didn't want an unrealistic photo on my husband's desk, with him thinking, "gee I wish she looked like that". I don't think I am too "wrinkly" for an almost 42 year old. LOL

Thanks everyone!

Your pictures are beautiful. I like the 2nd one the best. I am sure your Husband will be thrilled!

Hi Margaret- I missed your original post and have no experience w/ GS but wanted to tell you that they turned out great! I love 1 and 2 the best.

Have a great trip on that OTHER line- and def. post on the cruise board about how it went. We're tempted to try them next year.

Your pics look great!!

But I would like to put in a word for the Professional Photographer. I needed to take my Dd to get a Senior pic for their High School Annual. My friend knew someone. We went. Oh my gosh, I had never seen such wonderful shots!!

So, a year later when our whole family was together we went and got pictures taken. They turned out so beautiful!! :wizard:
