Ok, My Pictures are back - Glamour Shots

I just did this in August for my husband who is deployed. The girls were very friendly. I didn't think the make-up was very heavy and I loved what they did with my hair--although it really wasn't that different than I would have done. I did take a couple different outfits/lingerie that I wanted for my husband, but they also had some silk robes, etc. so I wouldn't have had to do that.

Alll that being said, I thought it was horribly expensive. It was a little over $300 with shipping and I got 2 8x10s, 2 5x7s and 8 wallets. That did include their "glamorize" which basically evens out your photos and removes any blemishes. I'll see if I still have the pic on-line. Yup, here ya go! Not the worst picture I've ever had taken......

Thank you. I love my ferret too. He's the best... besides our cat of course. :)

Okay... hopefully I won't be the only one brave enough to do this. Here's my Ooh-la-la Glamour Shot pictures. I don't have time to hook up my scanner to this computer, so they are pictures of pictures... quality isn't too great.
First time was 10 years ago, I was 13. I had them curl my hair - big mistake. I looked like a hooker, my hair was so teased out... it was horrible. And they didn't have many clothes for a 13 year old, so I ended up wearing some horrible colored leather jackets. Back then I loved it, now I just look at the pictures and shake my head.

Second time was for high school graduation. I had my hair done straight, the girl did an excellent job. My make up was good except I have very fair skin and blond hair and they made my eyebrows looks unnaturally dark. That is my only complaint. I really liked the pictures, but I wish they would take more so I would have had a better selection to choose from.

See what I mean about the dark eyebrows? Seriously they don't look like that in real life! She wanted to fill them in a little... didn't know it would look so drastic in the photos.

DON'T GO!!!!! We have friends who went about 3 months ago. Mom daughter and grandma. They screwed them royally. Got one price for a package and then after they left billed their credit card for $1300.00 more!!!!!!!! They are taking legal action against them and have reported them to the attorney generals office!! They refuse to refund the $$. They say it was for mdse that they wanted and ordered!

I've never been personally, but have always wanted to go.... My sister and her DH went a few years ago and their pictures are GORGEOUS!!

It looks like most of the complaints are coming from people that had the pictures done years ago when big hair was in. Sorry, but any old picture of us back then is going to look HORRIBLE whether it was done by Glamour Shots or JC Penney....

Yes, I think part of it is because of the "dated" look, but otherwise if you can control the amount of poofy hair and overly done makeup nowadays the pics can look good.

Another option would be to go to a photographer that specializes in boudoir photography, especially if they are for your dh and if it's something you'd be comfortable with, of course.

GL!

I am not going to wear lingerie, as this picture will sit on my husband's desk and that is not what I want there LOL!

I spoke with them today and they assured me I would have control over how much makeup and how they did my hair, and she said I should speak up if there was something I didn't like.

LOL, I told her I did not want to look like a hooker, and that I had "heard" from other people that they had that experience. She assure me again, that I had complete control. We will see, I will let you guys know.

Also, I forgot to ask her, but won't I just be able to pick up any order from the store itself? Or, are these being mailed to me? I don't want to have to pay s/h when I live 20 minutes away.

Thanks again everyone!

I picked them up at the store both times.

OMG! I was just thinking about Glamour Shots last week and regretting that I'd never had any done! :flower: I didn't know they are still around!

I think it would be a blast, but I would want to know the cost before I went, plus I would want to see the proofs before I ordered any photos.

Well I went there and got my photos done!

I was a little nervous, but they really weren't that pushy.

I went with no makeup on, and my hair clean. I told her that I wanted earth tones, and that usually I wear very little makeup. She did what I wanted with the makeup.

With my hair, she just used a flattening iron to smooth out a little bit of frizz I had, as it rained that morning. She sprayed a little hair spray into her hand and gently patted down any flyaways, and that was it!

Ok, so, I am not the pouty type. Every time the girl asked me to make a pouty face, I started to laugh! LOL

They took alot of pictures with 3 different outfits. I didn't really care for the ones that blew my hair all over the place LOL. The fan also dried my contact lenses out, so I had to keep blinking.

I had about 25 pictures to choose from. I was getting a free 8 x 10 with the coupon I had also. And the sitting fee and makeup was also free. And since I booked with in 10 days of the advertisement, I got an extra $10 off the price.

I chose 4 pictures. The one I liked the most, I bought the package ($100). It contained an 8 x 10, (2) 5 x 7's, and I think somewhere between 12 or 24 wallets (can't remember).

The other 3 photos, one was the free 8x10, and I chose a page of 5x7's for the other 2 ($40 a sheet).

I also bought the proof sheet ($50). It was like a wallet size of every photo taken. There were quite a few good ones, and if I were rich, I may have bought more LOL.

Anyway, they did try to sell me the Glamour touch (airbrush), but I told her, I wanted the photo to look like me, not someone my husband would compare me to, and wish I was. God, I am 41, and quite frankly, I don't have that many wrinkles or blemishes. I also went with the regular paper (matte), not glossy (extra $15 a sheet). I am putting it under glass, so who cares!

The Glamour Touch was an extra $75 a sheet! Holy cow, I could get a face lift for the price of having it done to all the photos !

Anyway, I didn't want to spend more than $200, but walked away with a total of $218 (including tax). I will pick them up next week, and see if I can post them if they come out ok.

If not, I will be back to cry and vent! Cross your fingers! :wizard:

very nice! I'm sure your husband will love them.

I let DD7 do this over the summer. We were at a mall that had a GS and of course were running a special for kids. She LOVED it. The were very good about the makeup and her hair, still having her look like a 7 year old. I would definately consider doing it again for her.

They look great! I like the first one (the close up with you head tilted) - it looks like it could be an advertisement!

Hope you had fun! The pictures look great! :flower:

Boy, Glamour Shots have come a long way. I think the pics are really good. My fav is the second one. It sounds like you had a nice experience. Thanks for keeping us updated and posting the pics.

Oh my gosh, they turned out so good! Not at all like I would expect from Glamor Shots. I really like them and I bet your husband will too!

Wow, those look way better then anything I would have expected from Glamour Shots! GS needs to advertise and show that they've updated their methods. I wouldn't mind doing something like that. Glad you're pleased with the results.

I agree with everyone else and like the 2nd one the best. GS has definitely changed their style some. Just as everyone mentioned, I had mine done about a decade ago too and they did make people look like a hooker. Mine wasn't quite as bad as others from the same time frame, but I do recall telling them I wanted mine toned down as well. Maybe they just took what everyone said to make their current improvements! Your husband will be happy with them :)

They turned out really great. You are so pretty, I am glad you went with the natural look. I think your husband will love them.
