I got a new camera phone last month and Ive been having a great time with it :)

I was at Target the other day and one of the kids that works there came up and said "Can I help you find anything?" I said " Nope Im good thanks" ( I could probably tell him where things are with as much as I shop there lol) He stood there for a minute and then he said " Ok Ive gotta ask, whatcha doin'?"

I just smiled and said " Im taking pictures of what I want for Christmas so I can email them to my husband" He started cracking up and said " Thats BRILLIANT!" I told him that my dh never knows what to get for me so this way he had a picture, knew where to find it, and what exactly it was.

For the record, I gave DH several choices so it isnt like an order or anything, but God love him, the man is clueless sometimes when it comes to gifts.
He needed some HELP!

The guys was still snickering when I left him and then later I heard him telling other people who work there they were saying " cool, good idea!"

I cant be the only person that has done this can I?

:confused3

LoL, that's a great idea. Get exactly what you want for Christmas! That's funny you gave the kid such a chuckle...

I don't have a camera phone, they seem to come in handy though? My dh has one, the quality doesn't seem so great?

nope...my brother used to do this...with a regular digital camera...and got in trouble at the store.

of course, this was filene's

Never heard of that before. what a wonderful idea. Wish I had a cell phone that does that. :rotfl: start of my wish list

(from other thread ) at least the first thing on my wish list is coming true. Disney shortbread cookies. Yahhh!! YUMMMMM!!!!

I don't have a camera phone but I email my dh links to what I want him to order. He could never pick out a flat iron so now I'll get the one I want.

So no I don't think it's weird at all - no exchanges!! :cool1:

Well, I don't take a picture of what I want but I do give DH a detailed list of items ranging from $1 to a couple hundred of $'s along with stores or I attach the pertinent catalogs with the items and sizes circled.

I make a pretty big list so I still don't know what I'm getting--plus he's free to buy anything OFF the list, as well.

He's hopeless at gift giving and he loves having some idea of what I want. He's glad I don't just expect him to know it telepathically. I always get annoyed when women complain about what they got or didn't get for birthdays/Christmas when they haven't given the poor guy a clue. My mom taught me when I was very young that if you want something, you should ask for it--whether it's a behavior or a present or roses for Valentines. It cuts down on a lot of disappointment.

I always carry my camera with me (it's the size of my phone), and I am constantly taking pictures. The big thing right now is if I see plants or flowers I like, I take pictures to bring to the nursery. I keep finding plumeria varieties I like, lol.

Smart idea, Binny. Then there's no question what you want. My DH just keeps hearing the same two things over and over-pretty sure I'll get one, and the other he just keeps  at me!

Good idea!

At least it's better than my DH using his camera phone to take pictures of the toilets (for sale) we were looking at at Home Depot the other day...

You're making a list and giving the lucky guy lots of detail. That's a great idea!

That's an excellent idea - just be cautious taking photos in stores. Our Giant has a sign posted on the door that you may not take photos inside the store.

If I want something specific I have to just buy and give it to him to wrap or either show DD exactly what it is and tell her to go with DH. An 11 yo girl shopping memory is even better than a picture-- she takes him to the exact spot and he doesn't have to even look around the store. :teeth:

Great idea...I'm surprised they didn't tell you to stop taking pictures.

That is a great idea. My mom is a very smart woman but she never fails to get the wrong item if we ask for something that has multiple options.

Great idea. I think I need to start doing that with my boys. All I ever ask for is gadgets, anyway, so they're helpful when it's that stuff. The only item of jewelery I want, he knows exactly what it is and that he's got a year and a half to get it!

:rotfl:

I've never done it with Christmas shopping ideas, but I have done it when remodeling. Makes it easier to remember pricing & what-not. The quality isn't really there, so you can't depend on the photos for remembering colors too much, but it's been handy to have. :)
