OK, I know we have some cat. 11s out there

I figure a cat 11 on a DCL boat is better than any other stateroom i could ever ask for! I can't wait to get there and show all those crazy cat 3'ers what their missing (hint: $$$$) lol!:p

If you want to be outside, you can always go to the "secret" deck 7 aft verandah, the comfy chairs on deck 4,
As Barb mentioned, this secret deck 7 is a great place to relax---especially if you don't have a verhandah. In 2002, we were in room #7638, which is directly next to this secret lounging area. I could look over my verandah deck wall and I never (or rarely) saw anyone there. But, shhhh......we should really try and keep this a secret ;)

We have 2 cat.11 cabins for March. After sailing many times in everything from a lowest level inside cabin to a penthouse suite with veranda, we thought we'd same the extra cash this time around and go with the 11. We are sailing with another couple and their daughter, so we figure we will be out and about most of the time anyway. I Do prefer outside, porthole at least, but will make do with inside this time for the extra cash. I like to see what the weather is doing outside early in the a.m. even though the weather can change dramatically in a couple of hours in thecaribbean. There are only 2 of us in our cabin so I'm sure the split bath won't be needed. We will give a full review when we return, Including the cabin!

Our first cruise was also a cat. 11. The only "issue" we had, was that no one wanted to get up in the mornings. If you want to sleep late, however, they are "WONDER"ful. lol. We booked a second cruise and got secret porthole rooms for our next trip, but only because my grandchildren "need" some sunlight to wake up.:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

We just got back- had a cat 11 on deck 2 midship- nice spacious splitbath no prob there 4 of us- but I found that I really wanted the verandah- (kids and husband could care less) .... I work an early shift and get up most ams by 4:30 so 6:30 is sleeping in for me. I found I really wanted to go out and look at the ocean and had to go up alone to deck 4 to do that ......and kept wondering while I was up there is my family awake yet......felt lonly up there .... etc etc... I found for me the verandah will be the way to go next time . In the first day I was so dissapointed I actually cried because I thought it was going to ruin the trip...

Just got back, too. We had a category 6, with verandah and I loved it. But we rebooked for next year in a category 9. Here is my plan. I, too, wake up early and lurk outside, so I'll order a tray from room service and sneak up to deck four. Keep the family radios on and they can beep me when they get up, or I'll beep them. Would a baby monitor work?

I have never sailed in a Cat. 11, and when I asked DW about switching from an 8 to a 10 on the cost issue, she insisted that she wanted the outside view from the stateroom, so I apparently never will. But in terms of the size of the layout in an 11, compare the square footage (is it 184? sorry, modem is too slow today to click over to another page to check) to other cruise lines and you will be very impressed. My first cruise on Royal Caribbean was in what passed for an ocean view but was more like the obstructed SPH rooms on DCL so far as view goes--and the couple we were crusing with had even less room than we had, and our room was probably not much more than 150-160 sq. ft. I looked into NCL because of the new all-Hawaiian itinerary beginning later this year (no more foreign port requirement to eat up 4 days to and from Fanning Island) and was all set to book that when I thought about three of us in 169 sq. ft. for their "deluxe oceanview" equivalent to a Cat. 8. Would have had to book a suite to match any DCL stateroom Cat. 10 or above, and the DCL Cat. 11 was also larger.
