Hey Lisa: It depends how you approach the situation. I already have my trip booked at the Poly for October 30 - Nov. 7th. I have a BIG deposit down on my trip. I look on the boards every day for the AP or room only discount. When it comes out, I'll call and try to get the discounted rate. If I get it, my hotel will already be paid in full. If I don't get it, I'll owe another couple of hundred for the room but I won't be paying all that money for the AP. So if you have a relaxed attitude about it, it's really okay. I love checking the boards every day anyway and I join into other conversations as well. Go for it but be blase about it and it won't stress you out. Good Luck!!

You forgot the real issue...the extra trip that you plan because you have the AP. Those extra trips are killing me this year!

Thanks for the good info on the APs. I think we will get at least one for our Nov trip.

Ideally, I'd love to get AP rates for AKL Concierge, but Deluxe Savannah View would be okay, too. If I can apply the rate after booking the room, would it be better to book Concierge or Deluxe now? If I book the deluxe and then AP concierge rates come up, can I upgrade easily? Conversely, if I book concierge and no rates are available, can I downgrade easily? I really don't want to spend the $$ on concierge without the AP rate, but definitely want to be at the AKL.

Looking at the difference between the September room only and AP rates, there is only a $10 difference per night.

well I already purchased an AP, and also one for my daughter because we plan on going again in the summer with my sister. So I don't have the option of not purchasing an AP... and I am REALLY hoping for a discount for Oct/Nov because my kids REALLY want to stay at the Contemporary. We have never stayed at a Deluxe before & they are looking forward to the arcade & monorail accessibility.
However, if we don't get a decent discount, we won't be staying there, and they will be highly disappointed..... and I will have to be the one to tell them
Not looking forward to that.

Called a little after 5PM today - still nothing.

I told the nice CM that they were taking too long with these rates and really stressing me out. She just laughed.

A side note - CM mentioned MCO got the worst of the hurricane damage and is still closed.

I found an old e-mail (on an e-mail account that I rarely check) that offered me a discount at the disney resorts through part of December. It had a pin # associated with it so I called Disney to see if I can apply it since I was calling two weeks after the e-mail went out. The CM was great (told me no AP rates yet) and applied the discount to my reservations. I got $199 a night at the YC in early December which looks like the current AP discounts they are offering for September. I'll still keep an eye out for AP rates for December, but it looks this current discount might be just as good.

On a side note, I felt soooo bad about calling today after they are recovering from hurricane Charley. The CM was great and said that WDW seems to be fine and that lots of nice people were calling in just to see how everyone is doing. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Florida!
