OK, I guess I will start the Waiting for OCT-DEC AP rate thread

I was so excited yesterday, I got a postcard. But then I actually read it and it was for September and October I believe and I'm going in December! Then I realized that it was for the value resorts only and I'm staying at the GF. RARRR! Just my luck. :(

MinnieM21 - When you get those postcards, Disney is almost always willing to apply similar savings to any level of hotel (we've applied a value resort post card to a Deluxe before). I've also heard that in some cases if you call and tell them you can't make it in Sept/Oct, but would LOVE to be able to visit WDW in December, they'll even change the dates. Just a thought - maybe worth a try.

I hope tomorrow is the day. This waiting is killing me! I'm betting that tomorrow is another general public code-I don't know why-just have a feeling. I'd take anything.:rolleyes1 :bored: :scared1:

Leggs22,

I just wanted to let you know what happened to me. I made reservations early, had the dates I wanted at the resort I wanted. When the AP rates came out last year, I called thinking they would just give me the discount on my resort. Well, I was wrong. They only had 9 of my 15 nights that I wanted. I finally had to stay at 3 different resorts!:( I'm not a resort hopper, I like one resort at a time (I'm weird, but I'm me! :wave2: ) Maybe I did something wrong? Maybe I was asking for to many nights, but the CM clearly stated, that he could not change my price due to the AP Rate. I had to make new ressies. Maybe the CM didn't know what he was doing :rolleyes1 I don't know what I did wrong, or what happened, but I didn't get the AP rate on my existing reservation.

Just wanted to let you know. Have a great trip!!!!

Chris

add me to the list........
waiting for any discount 10/30-11/6

can someone post the email address that they are receiving from?
I want to make sure that it is in my "allowed" list.

thanks!
Rhonda

mom_rules reporting from Canada-Have travel section of our Sat paper (9:29am) Only code is still Aug 29-Sep29 BAJ
and believe it or not there are three separate adds in this edition, with different companies-all offering the same thing.

It took me over a week to get a room for 2 extra days for our Oct trip-they told me that there are some huge conventions that have alot of the rooms already booked up!

That's correct, there has to be availability with AP rates for them to switch it. They aren't available for every resort for every date. If a resort or a room category is soldout or close to it, they will not make AP rates available for those dates. With a long stay, it might be difficult getting all the dates. What you can do is take the nights with AP rates under a separate reservation, keep the regular rate for the rest and then keep calling on the remaining dates to see if discounts were released. Many people have reported being told no availability for certain dates and then calling back the next day and there was.

They don't always come out at 7:00am. I remember one time the news came through about 1:00pm.

CindyAnn, Thanks for the advice, I had no idea! I'll call today. I have a question, what do I say? I'm not really sure about what to say and don't want to sound bad. Dumb question I know. Thanks so much though, I'll give it a try. Doesn't hurt.

Leggs22, Sorry I forgot to add that there has to be availability. (I think I butchered that word! ) Not everyone gets the discount. If you're not willing to pay rack rate I would wait but if you're worried about there not being any rooms left and can't afford to pay rack rate, there are always other great resorts. :) I would call and check if there are rooms left at the resort you want though.

We booked a room for October, without codes. The CM I talked to said they were so crowded that there may NOT be codes for October. She said MNSSHP and Food and Wine was filling up the resorts. Just a note to you all, DU is holding our reservation and checks for the codes for you. Worth a try and a bit less stress.

I called again this morning to see if by chance a different cm could find availability at WL or CR for us. I spoke with a really helpful and patient cm so I asked of course about codes (AP or general) for October. She said that they've been told to prepare for heavy call volume for the next few weeks. She said that is as specific as management had been. That there had been rumors of newspaper and television ads as well as more emails and postcards but nothing confirmed for any of those. She said when they asked for more specific information all her supervisor would tell her was that there would be "more than one promotion" running in the coming weeks. She said that could mean emails, postcards and a room only code or it could just mean emails or postcards targeting different areas. I mentioned that I'd heard the "watch your newspaper on Sunday" line from CRO and she said "so have I, but not from any official source and I do my best to avoid spreading rumors. It just makes for a big let down for our guests if they turn out not to be true." She mentioned that a lot of times it ends up being a rumor that starts with a guest saying 'I read online that....' and the cm taking the call tells someone there and that person says says 'I had a call like that too.' so they start believing it may be true and they say to someone "I hear there may be something in Sunday's paper" and then it gets posted on line....and so on....

So, it sounds like maybe CRO has been hearing the same rumors we are. Another thought is that a while ago the cms were really pushing checking the website rather than calling. It could be that some of the supervisors are telling them to suggest watching the paper now rather than calling. If they are like most call centers they have a goal set that each call has to be answered within X amount of time and last no longer than X minutes resulting in X percentage of bookings. They could be falling behind in those goals with lots of calls asking about rates so management may be looking for a way to divert some of them. Not saying it's wrong to call...just that management probably wishes we would stop calling to check.

I just hope one of those promotions includes some good rates for October!

I'm going to be cheezy for a minute...I want all of you to know that I'm so thankful there are others out there just like me...waiting anxiously...getting up early every day...spending far too much time on the computer and on the phone with central reservations just hoping for the call when the CM says "Well look at that-there are rates for Dec. and any room you wish is available!" (okay, so maybe the last part of that is just a fantasy:) )

Anyway...thanks to all of you!!:sunny:

Carla I so hope your CM is wrong.... I just went to the WDW website and there are lots of types of rooms still available for the week I am going so I hope thats a good sign!!!

I was at the grocery store this afternoon and took a peak at the travel section in the early edition of the Sunday Paper. All it had was the AZZ code for September.

Thanks, CindyAnn! I just called and asked if I could use my post card rates (for Value and Moderates) for a Deluxe and I got a good deal (I think) for AKL (pool view). And....might I add...that I had the nicest CM that I've ever encountered in dealing with WDW! He was a doll! I wanted to wait before I booked to speak with my DD (who happens to be at a BBQ right now) because she is also going with her family. He asked for her cell phone number and then put a conference call through to her. We booked two rooms.

I called the CRO and told the CM that I received a postcard for the value resorts and asked if I could use the discount for the deluxe resort that I was staying at. She was so nice and told me that she could apply it to my reservation. But since I wasn't going in September/October(those were the dates on the postcard) that she wouldn't able to apply the discount to my reservation. She felt really bad that she couldn't give me some kind of discount. Hey at least I gave it a try. I'll remember that if I ever get another postcard during another time when I go to Disney, thanks for the tip CindyAnn.:)

Just got off the phone---6:04 central and was told not today. He was polite, but not overly helpful!!
