Has nothing to do with Disney but quite a few have been asking me questions and as I do not advocate that I am an expert on the subject , I am happy to relate my experience with the company.

Let me start by saying I have never felt more normal in my life than on an Olivia vacation. To be with a community that large was…well life changing.

The entertainment they have is fabulous. To see Kate Clinton perform one night and then to have her be the bingo caller the next was hysterical (bingo who knew?).

Other cruises I have been on have had the same type of excursions. There is nothing special about Olivia’s either. No gay themed anything. What is special about them is unlike on other cruises where you feel that you are with a bunch of strangers on Olivia excursions you feel like you are doing them with a big group of friends.

They have a great singles program, which I was unaware of. The age of the average cruiser is older than I had thought. Which made me happy because then there was not a boat full of young things filled with lesbian drama…….wait let me rethink that …a boat full of 20 something lesbians……. Oh sorry back on track here:rolleyes1 .

There slogan “feel free” is truly accurate. You can feel free to be with who you want, do what you want heck hang out on the pool deck topless if you want ( and its not just for little perfect body things either last time at the pool games we had a 55? Maybe 60? Let it all out…no big deal!)

So yes they are expensive but I fell worth every cent. I have made lifetime friends on some of these trips  ! They do have there downfalls, one of which I would say is the staff of Olivia (very unprofessional) and they have (from what I understand) a strict policy on f/m or m/f which I feel is unfair and unfortunate:mad: .

Thanks so much for the information!

Can you elaborate a bit on the Olivia staff? I'm not too sure what you mean? The staff of Olivia the "company?" Or the staff of the cruise ship? Or both?

Do you share tables for meals on the cruises? Do they have any tables for just two?

How is the food? Do they have full service dining and buffet dining or just one or the other?

Have you ever been on an Olivia cruise when Melissa Etheridge held a concert?

Thanks for the info......I can cross this one off my list now. I don't like seeing strange women topless......let alone 55 to 60 year old strange women......

Sorry, I know that I am about to turn 40 and have never been the definition of beauty, but I have just never understood the fascination with being naked in public. I don't wanna be it, and I sure don't wanna see it!

Sorry I meant the staff of Olivia the company. The cruise staff was excellent. I felt that the staff from Olivia was very clicky and did for some passengers but not others and used the cruises as their own vacations.

For example at the dance club in one ship they finished out their night there by what amounted to a private party.

Meals: They do have tables for two up to tables for 10. I would really recommend sitting with a group because it is a good way to meet them. They also do have both sit down or buffet, what ever you chose. You could eat room service the entire time if that is what you wanted.

And Melissa…Nope not yet. We did do the Mexican Riviera last year to see the Indigo Girls.

Oh do not let it stop you from going!! There are many pools you can chose!! I only wanted to emphasize how relaxed the atmosphere is on their vacations. And it is not as if there are hundreds of naked women, you might see a handful. More so when the pool games competition is going on and if you do not want to see that just do not participate in the pool games. There is a million other things to do…like wine tasting!

Thanks for the clarifications! It's not that we dislike people, it's just that we are very private sorts and on vacation we really do like to be with each other and not a crowd, so to speak.

We both work in positions that require constant interaction with people in need and that kind of cures you for wanting to interact with strangers on vacation.

That's one of the reasons Disney works so well for us. We can disappear in the crowd!

I don't think we'd want to eat in our stateroom, but we would prefer to be seated alone.

I don't think I'd mind the nakedness too much. If it bothered me, as you suggest, I'd just leave the area. Not to worried about that.

Again, thanks so much for your information.

(I am a little concerned about the Olivia staff though. Don't much care for that sort of thing). :confused3
