Hey gang -- I haven't posted much on the DIS lately because I just haven't felt a part of things for various reasons. However, I was reminded a few times lately what great people we have here!!! Sooooo I figured I could use some good thoughts right about now and I kenw the place to come.....

I'm trying to get into dental school. I took the entrance exam last year and did OK. (Avg score to get into the school I want to go to was 18...I scored a 16) Not great but not horrible. I apparently applied too late in the season though as I got a lovely, "Our class is already full, we aren't even reviewing your letter if you would like to reapply please send a letter in Sept....." letter.

Soooooooo I'm studying to retake the test. I will take it prior to Sept 10 and send in my letter to re-apply. Due to my husband's "work" (he's in the navy) we are stuck here in PA so my choices are limited but still good! (Stuck is a good thing as he got a new position here for the rest of his enlistment and will be home daily.) There are 2 schools in Philly.....Temple and U Penn. UPenn is just WAY too competitive and WAY too expensive (twice the cost of Temple.) Temple is a great school and I would really like to do well enough on the test and for them to see my application and want me!

So any good thoughts would be appreciated!! *sorry it's so long* lol

Big time PD to you, Nikole. My neighbor's son is looking into attending Temple next year - it is a very good school.

My DD (who will also be attending college next year) is looking at Penn and I agree with you - the cost is outrageous, as is Duquesne, her other choice!

I'll double dose my thoughts and prayers for you Nikole because I know it isn't easy and I have a client whose DD is a dentist and she said they really have a "good ol' boys" thing going on in dental school school--very hard for the women...
I think she lived in LA when she went through school though.

I am hoping it all works out for you Nik. I do agree that we get reminders all the time that there are some things about this site that bring us together...especially some of the lifelong friendships that sometimes evolve out of it. I have all my fingers crossed for you.
