Family of 5 [kids 7,5, 3]. We've already gotten our flights [prices were too good to miss] and have a hold at AAA on 6 day 5 night at POR but I'm afraid to commit. I keep hearing about renting points and staying closer to parks at a DVC.

Would I save money? Obviously I'd be able to have meals in a condo right? But I'd have to rent a car to get to grocery store. DH and I might even get privacy at night?

Pros and cons would be appreciated...and where to stay and how to get it.
Do I use a TA for this? Thanks.

Oh and it's Sun 1/2/06-Friday 1/7/06

I think you may be too late for a DVC rental right now. Jan is pretty booked up . But someone might have a reservation for the dates you want available. Check out the Rent/Trade board to see what might be available.

If you want to do a DVC rental from a member, you need to have lots of lead time, especially for holiday times. Members make their reservations 11 months ahead of time, some only 7 at their non-home resorts. You are only about 3 and 1/2 months out from your vacation.
