OK for coolers in parks??

I do not believe they are allowed. This is has been the case since 9/11

Thats what I thought. I have been diagnosed with brittle hypoglycemia and I'm suppose to keep food with me at all times. Would they allow it if I have a note from my physician??

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm taking my 73 y/o mom for her first ever trip to WDW in Dec. She is a VERY brittle diabetic, who is on insulin four times/day. She bought one of those little six pack soft sided coolers to take into the parks with her. It should fit on her ECV. It will hold her insulin, syringes, glucometer, and a few snacks. Her doctor has already said he is writing her a note. If her blood sugar starts to drop (as it frequnetly does, with little or no warning), there is no way we could wait in line to get her something to eat. I'm already concerned about what we're going to do if we have to wait too long for our ADRs. She must eat regularly and frequently.

I'm the same way but I'm not a Diabetic, just a very brittle hypoglycemic. I agree, sometimes the lines are so long, I will be out before I could get food. I eat 6 meals a day with snacks. I have IV kits so I can I can an amp of D50 if needed. I'm a nurse, but I can't start my own IV when I have an attack.

I'm going to call WDW and ask a CM. Will let you know when I find out.

That was suppose to say, so I have IV kits so I can take an amp of D50 if needed. :rotfl:
Sorry

Small coolers (the soft sided ones) have been spotted in the park... I don't think they'll let you in with one of the big monsters on wheels, but one for snacks would be OK. Why not back a lunch box with the perishables and an ice pack, and then have nonperishables in your bag?

Are you planning on not dining in any WDW restaurant? Staying in the park all day?

We take a cooler on every trip. Just got back from last week and had our cooler with us every day. We've taken soft-sided and the plastic shell ones - it doesn't matter. They just have to be small enough that you can carry it - no coolers on wheels. Ours fits nicely in the basket in the stroller - holds a 12 pack of drinks (although we don't bring that much). It's a luxury we've gotten used to. This was probably our last trip with a stroller, and we've got to come up with an alternate plan for future trips. But yes, they are most definitely allowed!!

The one thing that Disney says is that they don't have any picnic facilities; that's the reason they give for no coolers.
But, as others said, small coolers are no problem. (I have seen people try to bring in monster coolers on wheels - I don't know why anyone would want to try to pull one around all day).

Another alternative is putting food in a backpack. We always carry an assortment of snacks for DD in her backpack.

I bring a cold pack every time we go to Disney. I have bottled water and juice pouches for the kids in there. At security the just looked in it like any other bag and we were on our way and its never been a problem at all.

We were just there this past May.

Thanks to everyone. Yes, we have ADR made but sometimes you still have to wait for a table and then order the food. When my sugar drops, it drops fast. Alot of time without warning. If I can catch it, I have to eat something right away. Usually peanut butter and crakers.

I just wanted to take something small inside to keep an OJ in for a quick fix.

Same here. My mom's blood sugar will drop with no warning and she gets very confused. My first sign something is wrong is when she suddenly starts saying "I'm OK, I'm OK'. Then I know I have to start getting food in her. There's no way I could leave her to go stand in a line to get food. She'd be passed out when I got back. We have ADRs everyday for almost all meals, but if we have to wait very long she's going to have to eat something. We are going to have to take snacks into the parks for her.
