OK DVCers - This is just Wrong

OK, first disclosure - it's not a big secret that I'm at least slightly right of center. But even so I absolutely can't stand Sean Hannity. Yesterday on the radio I heard him (not on his show, but during the afternoon news) do a commercial for the Disney Vacation Club. What was DVC thinking? I'm sorry, but if I weren't already a DVC member, his endorsement would not have made me more likely to become one.

Oh, I'm sure he's personally a very nice guy - I just don't like his schtick.

Same here. Used to watch the TV show all the time, but DW and I can not take him anymore. We think he gives conservatives a bad rap.

As someone who leans a bit left of center (just ask my tailor) I'm no fan of Sean. Can't stand Al Franken either. These folks spend their days telling people that half this country are bad, evil people.

I wouldn't buy anything from these hate spewers, and can't understand why any company that wants to sell to the broad public would support them.

I am also 'right of center', probably even more right than you Galahad, LOL. I also find him to be a bit much, almost all of the time. For me it is just like Bill O'Reilly, kinda liked him at first, then he became popular and the fame went to his head.

As far as his endorsement, I think it is all about the numbers. His show is very, very popular. Many people obviously really do like him or he would not be doing so well.

If I am not mistaken, I believe Sean's syndicated radio show is put out by ABC radio. It's probably a cheap way for DVC to get a professional to record a commercial for them. You know, someone in house. Perhaps he is required to do so many Disney related things a year according to the terms of his contract.

Also, I believe others have said that Sean broadcast from Saratoga Springs not to long ago, who knows, maybe he is a member? ( though I highly doubt it.)

Personally, celebrity endorsements don't effect me one way or the other. I try to not be so shallow as to base my opinion on something an "actor" is paid to say.

I think that this is a contest/promotion that is being run on all the ABC(Disney) radio stations, I know the ABC station here in DC is running it. I don't think DVC went out and asked Sean Hannity for a direct endorsement...

That makes sense. I just don't think having a Disney venture associated with a strongly political figure of any stripe is very smart. But maybe that's why I'm not in advertising.

it's also running on the disney owned (for now) talk station in the dfw area, i think it just comes down to numbers, sean is the number two rated talk show in the country, and the number one rated abc syndicated show, so if you wanted exposure for your product to a great number of people where would you go? since rush is not an abc product i wouldn't expect disney to use him.

speaking of disney selling off radio, is it actually a sale or is it like the pixar deal where it is more of a merger? it sounded like the new company was a combination of disney and the company that was buying the stations.
