OK DisGeeks! What are the things that ONLY we Disers know?

2) To get a monorail drivers licence: when you go to the loading platform for the monorail, ask a CM if you can ride up front of the monorail with the driver. Whoever asks first normally gets to do it and there should be room for 4 of you. The driver should then issue you with a drivers licence.

We must have had the grumpiest monorail pilot at all of WDW. We had dinner at California Grill and when getting on the monorail to hop back over to MK, we asked to sit in the front (we had just seen another family get out of the front). His response was "I have room for 4 only".

"Great!" I said. "That is exactly how many we have." He didn't speak to us the whole time we were riding.

No certificate, license. Nada! Oh, well. The kids were just super excited to sit in the front! But it would have been nice if the pilot had been a little more welcoming.

My question is...how do you people find all this stuff out? I feel so out of the loop! :(

Just keep reading the boards. There's also some wonderful books with all kinds of helpful information.

My favorite is The Walt Disney World Trivia book.

We experienced the SAME thing with our driver. She only spoke when spoken to, and even then it was very short, direct answers. I guess she had to concentrate on the road? :rotfl: She did give us the pilot cards though.

I was going to bring up George in POTC too. My kids are all set to call his name when we go on in December. I told my oldest daughters to not mention this to the little ones because it may freak them out :scared:

How to make a Mickey head tie dye shirt!!!! ::MickeyMo
I would have NEVER thought to do this if I hadn't checked out the "Homemade WDW T-shirts" thread on the Cooking & Craft board!

I'm editing this post because I found all my answers on the sticky thread. Thanks for starting on Stackyshack (I think that's your online name) can't get to that screen right now. You know who I'm talking about. Thanks to whoever started this thread too...there's sooo much to learn about WDW...and I have only a year and 2 months to learn it all.

I've learned a lot here, too!

The rehitching ceremony at GG (not anymore), FP's don't expire, the importance of making ADR's....

Can someone clear this up for me. I'm new to WDW...planning a trip for 12/06. I need to buy tickets to MVMCP right? Where do I go about buying this? Also, they said you go in at 4 and stay until 11. So, that means you don't use a park admission for that day? Also, what exactly is there to do from 4-11. Or is it that you have access to MK during that time. Thanks I really am new to all this WDW stuff...been concentrating on Disneyland and Disney Cruise..will now make my treck across the U.S. to WDW.

In addition to the special MVMCP parade and fire works display[complete with snow on Main Street] you do get to do many of the rides and attractions until 11PM. You can also get a free family Christmas photo in Tomorrowland. There are several stations thruout the park where you can get free hot chocolate and cookies[but they are not the greatest]. The best part is that since this is a hard ticket event there is a limit on the number of tickets they will sell so you may have smaller crowds.

P.S. at 6PM everyone with a MVMCP bracelet is herded into Tomorrowland until 7PM and then allowed out into the rest of the park. During that hour they are getting those without bracelets out of the park.

Oops, missed your main question. You can order your tickets for MVMCP on line at www.disneyworld.com or right here on the DIS or you can buy them at the gate at the MK [but if you wait until you are there you may find that they are sold out the night you want to go]. Last year I ordered mine thru the web site about 5 or 6 weeks before our trip and still could not get tickets for our preferred night and had to change our trip plans.

I once heard someone tell a monorail driver "we want to ride up front" to which the driver replied "can you say 'Please?'". A little word, but it does a great deal. Another time we asked the attendant if our companions could ride in the front please, because they never had. The attendant said yes. Then a couple who had been standing nearby piped up and said "we were here first and we've been waiting" to which the attendant replied "you never asked, you can't just assume you can ride without asking!" They stormed off.

PS, last month my grandkids were one of the 1st at opening for Toontown. It was really neat...Pooh, Tigger & Eyeore walked up to the rope and the kids ran up to them and hugged them, then the characters took the hands of some of the kids and walked them in. The day before we got there right after rope drop and saw Goofy riding his barnstormer with some kids. That was neat too. There was a kid right up front with him.

Umm, sorry but what about PI on Thursday nite? :paw:

Surely SOMEONE will answer that knows for sure but I think
PI on Thursdays....Thursdays is when the CMs go to PI and it gets pretty wild

Gertie is the dinosaur next to the pond in the Disney Studios.....there is an ice cream stand "in" it....but I don't know the secret of it (unless that is it and I didn't know it was a secret!)

I'm surprised nobody mentioned being the "flag family" at Wildnerness Lodge,
if they even still do that.

Speaking of flags, I never knew about the flag lowering ceremony every day at MK - and that they pick a "veteran of the day" to assist the color guard - until I read about it on the DIS. I arranged to have my dad be the special veteran last year and it was the highlight of our trip. He received a free 5xt photo of the event, a special certificate and pin! Thanks, Disers!

Yes, Thursday night at PI is one of the nights when CMs get in free and can bring friends for discount prices, so the dance clubs fill up. While it's almost always good to AVOID crowds at WDW, at dance clubs you want a critical mass for the best possible time (and as shelter to hide your own awkward dance moments, should you have any!).

The first child in the Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square gets to decorate the Christmas tree in the store and have their name on the "This tree decorated by ...." for the entire day. And, best of all, the child gets a free Mickey head ball ornament with their name printed on it and a Magical Moments certificate

(DD got to do this in 2002 ..... hope they still do it!)
