In my office, there is myself, another girl that does my job, the office manager, and then the owner. I've gotten the owner a bottle of wine, the girl that does my job a decorative thing for her kitchen and some treats, and for the office manager I have a Ralph Lauren sweater (brand new with tags). My mother gave it to me, but its to big. Its an XL, and I'm pretty sure it would fit her. Do you think its appropriate for me to give her the sweater? I don't want to insult her at all. I've been working there about 6-7 months now.

That would seem like a regift to me - and unless the person could exchange it (which would be far easier if you had the gift receipt) I wouldn't do it. Never assume someone's size - you could really offend someone if they don't "feel" they want coworkers to know they are an XL.

I would do something similar to what the other gifts are.

It's a hard call. Does the lady wear the kind of sweater (or designer) you plan to give? If she does, it might be okay. The only other thing is some people are sensitive about a person guessing their size (even if you are right). If she doesn't seem to be that way, I'd say you're okay.

Good point.

She said the other day that she needs some sweaters because its always so cold in the office. She said that she wanted V neck, and these are turtle neck. I don't know... I think I will get her something else, and maybe give her the sweater as well, since I can't do anything with them anyway.

That would be a nice gesture. :) Maybe tell her you don't know if the sweaters will fit, but they are warm.

How did you land that one--a job where someone else does your job :lmao::lmao::lmao: (kidding-I know you meant she does the SAME job as you--right???).

What color is the sweater??? I love turtleneck sweaters :lmao:

For an office gift, no, I would not regift, but I wouldn't rule that out for someone you know that likes something like that. I would give the office manager a bottle of wine or something like that.
