i was wondering can you go into some of the other hotels and just have a meal, as the buffet at newport bay sounds wonderful, or do you have to stay in that hotel to eat??

You don't even have to be a guest at any of the on-site Disney hotels to eat there. You could be staying off site or just be a day visitor.
It's a good way of sampling the delights of the more expensive hotels without having to pay the room rate ;)

Following on from this would it seem cheeky to just go and have a look around the other hotels - I would love to go and have a look inside the DLH and the HNY :teeth:

I'd imagine they'd welcome people looking round other hotels - does them far more justice than a brochure ever could and it may persuade people to book them next time.

I've wandered about all the hotels. They all have gift shops and bars or restaurants so theres really no reason any one cant just go in. Go for it, i've done it many times.

I think you can just book at guest services even if you are staying offsite. We stayed at The SL and ate at Inventions in the DLH one night and it was lovely to walk through Jill. Go and have a peek next time . :goodvibes

We made it a point to walk around the other hotels. We stayed at NBC (which was under construction at the time we were there) and we visited all of the other hotels and at at the Sequoia Lodge twice (since all the restaurants at NBC were under contruction at the same time). Too bad I paid for Admiral's Floor at a hotel that was under so much construction (I guess I've made my point). Of course you can check out the other hotels and places to eat.

It's a must do as far as I'm concerned!!! Even when we were just visiting DLP for the day, we still spent an hour drinking wine in the Sequoia Lodge bar!!! Visiting the hotels during the day is a great way to chill out from the crowds in the parks.

We stayed offsite but ate at Inventions at the DLH and had a jolly good nose around while we were there! :rotfl: We would have had a drink in the Fantasia bar but we were too stuffed, er I mean rather too full  from our meal!

We also had a good look around the Newport Bay whilst we were in there at Christmas. I like looking around the different hotels and their shops. This summer we are hoping to look round Sequoia Lodge and Cheyenne (which looks really good fun).

Yes you can although some of them you do have to book for like the restaraunts in the disney hotel. :cloud9:

Do you think it was worth the cost and which characters did you see (if it was a character meal.

It was expensive but I do think it was worth it. Here is my trip report of it. The characters we saw were Minnie, Perla, Suzy, Eeyore, Pluto, Tigger and Launchpad McQuack.

I don't know if I would go every visit, but the location in the DLH and view of the park makes Inventions a very special location :goodvibes
