Oil Price Shock

$3.11 in De. I just realized the thermostat has been set on 60, and it's pretty comfortable in here. We did have siding put on a few years ago, and they used super insulation, so I think that helped.

I paid 2.79 at the beginning of Dec. for 150 gallons, which was the minimum and was all I could afford. I don't have a contract, it would jack the price up at least another $1 per gallon. I pay the oil guy cash on delivery. The thermostat stays at 60 day and night. My son complains alot, but I tell him to put on another sweatshirt. I've turned into my mother :)

Last year, I decided to keep the thermostat down so I wouldn't have to buy oil and instead used two space heaters. What a mistake! In January, I received an electrical bill for $400 for one month! That is alot!! There are only two of us in a tiny house, so you could have knocked me over with a feather when I received that electric bill! So the space heaters are now in storage and we pretty much freeze! We pile on the blankets, sweats and sweaters.

$3.44 here in NJ

This is the first year in 7 years that I did not pay extra to lock in my oil price

I think I am really going to regret it.

We use our thermostat faithfully, wake 65, leave 60, home 65, night 60.
