That stupid, horrible "Christmas Shoes" song is being played again. I HATE THIS SONG! It is the most depressing Christmas song ever made. There's nothing merry or cheery about it!!

Uggghhh....

that came on last week and I turned it right off. It is a depressing horrible song and I sure don't htink of it as "christmas music"!!!

I agree 100%...stupid song!

I can't understand why anyone would want to listen to it.

Personally...now that my Mom is in heaven it brings back memories of my final year with her. How my family and I tried out best to complete all her last wishes and see her happy. The love the little boy in the song has for his Mom is the same type of love my family showed my Mom and it gives me a peace knowing she knew that. I think it depends where you are in your life, for any song, how a song feels to you.

Yes, it is very sad, but it also makes me think about what others are facing at Christmas. We tend to focus on ourselves and not realize the person right next to us is hurting or in need. This child needs to make his mom's last Christmas her best and this is how he thinks it will happen. A busy stranger is focused on himself and realizes that he can help. Not immediately, but eventually. I do cry most everytime I hear the song. But it also makes me realize that I actually am blessed that my family is healthy. I also pay attention more to people around me. No, I can't afford to help everyone, but sometimes a smile goes a long way too. Christmas is about others, not me.

I can't stand it either.

My Mom died of cancer when I was 13 and then 2 1/2 years later when I was 16 my Father also passed away from cancer. The holidays can be hard enough on me, but when that song comes on - forget it. I change the station QUICKLY!

I didn't know it was a requirement that all Christmas songs be merry or cheery?! :confused3 Not everyone is going through good times just because it's the holiday season.

I'm glad there are others that feel this way.

I just don't get why this is a Christmas song and why it's played SO often.

Jess

I don't like it either. When you're going along listening to upbeat holiday songs and that one comes on, it ruins the mood. I've lost people to cancer and am a teacher who've had students affected by the loss of a parent or loved one by cancer. This song somewhat romanticizes loss with Chistmas and Jesus. You never want to see the look in a child's eye right after losing a parent. I don't care how religious or spiritual they are, it just doesn't happen that way.

Not all Christmas songs are cheery or merry...many are more reverant. Most celebrate the gifts we give to each other, or the "miracles" of the season without making us feel like crap because we choose to see the JOY in the season as opposed to the sadness (that many see EVERYDAY).

This song capitalizes on the season...and IMO that's what's wrong with it.

I always think the kid got some money from his dad to get shoes and blew it on pizza and video games, and is working a scam.

Before I get any hate PM's, just so we're clear, I think the pretend kid in the song is lying that his pretend mother is dying so he can get her the pretend shoes at a cheaper rate so his pretend father doesn't beat him for blowing the money. If the singer can make up a story, I can add my own subplot.

Because the holidays shouldn't be a depressing time of the year. And there's nothing really "nice" or "sweet" about this song...it's downright depressing and horrible.

My Dad passed away right after Thanksgiving in 1999, and that wasn't a good holiday season....so I understand what you're saying. But I can't listen to a song that is purposefully sad during a time that is supposed to be joyful.

I really hate the "rolling eyes" icon.
