O'Hanas

We went last week twice because it was so good. We got to see the fireworks to. When you first get there the host walks you buy the grills and talks about it as he gets you the pineapple bread. You are then seated and lots of food are brought to the table. You get large chicken wings with a great glaze, peppery lo mein type noodles, potstickers, salad with honey lime dressing (yumm), and then meat (turkey, steak, pork, and shrimp) are brought out., They also give you three dipping sauces. It's all you can eat so pace yourself. The main entree (the waiter calls it) is the bread pudding with ice cream and bannana foster topping. YUMMMMMMMMM. The wait service was ok but as along as the food came I didn't care. They had a singer and gave hula dancing lessons and cocanut races for the kids.

Do they still have the yummy potatoes at Ohana?
Nope.

We had an ADR at 9:00 p.m. We pace ourselves. Bread and salad was good. No one liked the chicken wings, pot stickers and the asian noodles were horrible.

We were given wash clothes and new plates. No pork, not a big deal, turkey was good, I couldn't eat shrimp, but my wife and dd said it was good. The steak ended up to be really rare.

We asked for different steak and this was rare. We saw him take the skewer back and the cook yelled at him and told him it was done.

We finally gave up, since it was passed 10:00 p.m. We got the dessert and it was the best. Hope they don't mess with the dessert. I probably could have eaten one myself, since I didn't have to much of anything else.

'Ohanas not O'Hanas - not an Irish place.

'Ohana not 'Ohanas. There is only one of them.:rotfl2:

We love the food there. The starters and appetizers are so good we don't even need the meat, although the shrimp is very good.

And the dessert is the best at WDW IMHO.

bummer - :(
I saw the the all ears menu was updated as of 10/08 and so I thought they had brought them back -

This same statement was made during the summer, about 'Ohana, only it was a June or July update showing the potatoes were "back"...they weren't. I don't know where or how Allears gets their "updates" but our experience in both May & September 2008 was no matter how recently the menus were supposed to have been updated...they allears menus are not correct.

Use them to get a general idea of what a restaurant offers (or what some of the foods will be on a family-meal or buffet) but do not count on the specifics all being correct. We had menus that were said to have been updated the same month we went that were pretty far off. (like 1/2 the entrees being different than those listed, and 3 of 4 desserts being different.)
So general guideline, yes...what you can actually get when you go...maybe!

my opinion - and understand that DD and I were sick all week but we enjoyed every other meal - 'Ohana was awful. The waiter was unimpressive, the food, both appies and hunks of meat all came together and were just piled all over the table - no time to try anything, it was all just thrown at us. The Polynesian entertainer was like a bad lounge singer -OMG she was so annoying!. We couldn't get out of there fast enough - NEVER AGAIN!!

and it was outstanding! The food was delicous. The meats were better than ever. Each one had its own baste that made it stand out. And each was very flavorful. Typically, we try to get an early ressie, but this time had to eat late. Didint matter, service was good, staff very friendly. Ohana is back at top of my list of fav eatery in WDW.

I might have to say that Ohana is my fav restaurant at Disney.......but.....since being out of the country for 2 years and no longer in college 45 min away, I haven't been for almost 3 years........and apparently my favorite simple dessert is gone! Pineapples and caramel dipping sauce was the PERFECT ending to the great meal!

We went last week and had a wonderful meal. The roasted pork was the best of the meats, shrimp was ok, and a little over cooked which made them hard to peel. Overall very good experience.

It is our favorite place to eat in DW period!
TIP: Try to get a seat by the window and try to make your reservation for 7:30 or 8pm. There is an awesome view of the castle and the fireworks from the window seats.:thumbsup2

We used to enjoy Ohana about 10 years ago prior to the first menu change. We loved the meat on skewers and now enjoy going off property to Texas de Brazil to get lots and lots of it...

Can you see Wishes even if you don't have a window seat? I'm thinking about making an ADR for my birthday solely because I'd love to see Wishes from there. So I'd be really disappointed if I went and couldn't see any of it.

No, not all seats have a view of the windows or Wishes...so I'd make the request for a window seat if that is really important to you. The last time we ate there we were seated on an inside corner and definitely had no view.

We got to go for the first time two Saturdays ago, and we were just not impressed. For me, I just do NOT eat enough for buffets and all-you-can-eat restaurants to be worth it to me. And there is simply waaaay too much food. They bring you lots of appetizers (cheaper) to hopefully sate your hunger before the meat (more expensive) reaches you so you will eat less of the spendier meats. Even trying to "pace" ourselves, I only really got a sample of a half dozen things rather than a real feeling of a satisfying overall meal.

Service was only okay, and we were put someplace far away from the activity, which was a large reason we went (love to watch the kids play! We have none of our own, by choice, but love seeing kids have fun playing along at Disney). So ultimately, we paid a high price for a meal we didn't eat our money's worth of, and the other reasons to go (service and unique audience participation) we didn't get. So we wouldn't go again.

That said, the flavors of everything was definitely good. Delicious sauces for the meats, and then the dessert....ooooh sooo goood. YUM!

DFIL declared it the best meal of our vacation when we took him to Disney with us in 2007... and we ate at some pretty nice places, including LeCellier, Tutto Italia and Boma.

I thought it was good, but not the best meal of the trip. The kids loved it.

Do they still have the yummy potatoes at Ohana?

Those potatoes were my favorite thing to eat at 'Ohana but sadly they are gone. They are replaced by these greasey lo mein style noodles. They are awful. However, I still enjoy eating there and we have another reservation for January which I can't wait to enjoy.
